It was actually between 3 to 5 seconds extra JC.
It's all on film it can be timed.
They don't want to know though, some have it at 2 or 3 minutes and that Ali changed his gloves!

Never happened ,the stitching was loose around one thumb, Dundee made a big deal of it ,the extra time was under 5 seconds. If Coopers camp, had any sense they would have made big deal about the smelling salts held under Ali's nose they were illegal by that time in the UK.

Straight punches get there before wide swings.

If he got drugged, it certainly took several rounds to kick in! And who at that time would want to fight Foreman for several rounds with the hope that the drug would kick in eventually? He was way to dangerous to play that game.

Don't know all the details but I'll take your explanation as correct...but...had they come out immediately and put the fight in the Astrodome (recall George's two defenses (Roman-Norton) were out of the United States it would seem only fitting that the Champion could warrant a 'homecoming' of sorts in his backyard. Lastly, IMO, despite Mobutu's input, I would guarantee that fight would have been moved to another site, favoring Ali's chances, had the Astrodome been initially considered.

IMO, it was better that Ali (Clay at the time) won at the time and 'enry had a story to tell his grandbabies. But...Clay was lucky he got clocked at the end of the round; yes he got up, walked to his corner and sat down, only to get up and start walking to?....nowhere! Again you are right; the duration between rounds was only about 65 seconds. IMO, had Cooper nailed him mid-round Clay would not have survived.
Had Shavers nailed Lyle mid-round Lyle would have ended up in a down faced puddle. This 'what if' list could go on and on.
In closing, Ali was clocked; he learned from it and seemed much more chiseled, smart, and savvy by the Liston fight in Miami eight months later, a quick learner who threw out his antics and got down to the business at hand. My $0.02

I don't think so, Ali was seen as becoming a back number .The ropes could have seriously hurt Ali.had he gone through them and out of the ring. Bobby Goodman and Angelo shortened them and tightened them up he had no idea Ali was going to play "rope a dope ",in fact when he tried it for the first time Angelo had a real go at him when he came back to the corner .It's in Dundee's autobiography.

All of this is besides the fact that Saddler was a typical boxing rascal and fully capable of it .. if he did who knows when it happened and how it would impact him ... I am just firmly in the belief it was possible and not as outrageous a statement as it might seem ..

Why had they been outlawed such a relatively long time ago in the UK? Pretty sure I still see them used to this day here and there.
