Seeing Chris Eubank Jr. Taken To School Was Almost As Sweet As Seeing Maidana Beat Down AB. Almost.

Not for me. Although Broner had been beaten before that like Jr, the judges still beat his opponents for him and his fans acted like it had all been legit.
Maidana vs Broner was beyond judges' repair, and was sweet satisfaction on a whole other level.

With Groves vs Eubank there were a lot more people that expected this to happen, and the Eubank's antics (from both Sr and Jr) were met with a lot of scepticism and sometimes even mockery.
Nobody had put Eubank in their P4P top10 and/or saw Floyd's successor in him. Nobody had put him up against journeymen/getekeepers and put vacant world title belts on the line for him at different weightclasses like they did for Broner either.

Can't see billy Joe getting success against golovkin. He,ll make it tricky for him frustrate him a bit...but golovkins a master at cutting off the ring. He,ll get too billy Joe eventually...rough him up etc. Golovkins not bad on the outside himself either.

Pretty sure canelo,s getting success against golovkin cause he's got a big solid counter waiting on him coming in. Stopping golovkin getting down to his usual work. Billy joe,s got his footwork/footspeed. But so has golovkin...hes quality at cornering people.

 

The Eubank hate here is embarrassing. He entered this tournament as a MW fighting above his weight class and was beaten by a quality world champion.

If Kovalev had entered the Cruiserweight WBSS and lost 9-3 on points convincingly to Usyk in the semi final after brutally knocking out his first opponent, the fanboys on here would be gnawing at his nuts and every thread would be focused on giving him respect for challenging himself above his weight class and not quitting like Rigondeaux.

That's how it works though. You cant strut round like Snr and Jnr thinking your sheet don't smell, and expect sympathy when it all goes wrong...I actually think it humbled Snr in the post fight press conference, never heard him speak so easily and truthfully without the blag. It was like someone flicked a switch, he come across normal, decent and respectful and likeable

 

Yeah I know it was a reach of a comparison given the weight jump from LHW and CW but my point stands. Eubank should be commended for having the nuts to at least jump up to SMW and enter the tournament. He showed heart in the semi final and his defeat was nothing like Broner's.

 

Junior has just backed himself like any other boxer. He hasn't talked himself up that much. It's his father who has in a ridiculous fashion. What Jr has brought on himself is the mocking from guys he mocked himself after losing, like Degale and Brook.

In the Groves build up it was just promotion. He never talked THAT out of turn. He based his confidence on sparring sessions, nothing wrong with that.

The overreaction from fans is OTT IMO but I am confident Young Christopher will get the last laugh. He will win a world title.

 

This. I've chatted with Calzaghe though, i'm 5 11, and i'd put money on him being 6 foot minimum. Thing is, it wasn't size that was the issue, it was skill with Groves and Jnr
