Whenever I see or get involved in one of these ATG threads my mind always flashes to this..

Just change the names of the fighters and it's any ESB/BN24 ATG thread..

In the first fight, Kovalev took away Wards pawing jab in the first two rounds by countering with the right hand. He did the exact same thing to Shabranskyy and KOd Shabra.

But Ward adapted and took away Kovalevs right hand by bending low and closing the distance when jabbing.

You seem to know wery little about boxing or are just biased to the extreme.

    Andre Ward UD12 Kovalev
    Andre Ward TKO8 Kovalev

I'm not arguing anything that is set in stone, the 2 fights
stand as they are and always will.

#1 in the history of his division? So you'd take Ward over everyone who ever fought at Super Middle and Light heavy?

    Sorry, you're wrong.

Kovalev isn't a hall of famer, either. Ward never even fought the legit light heavyweight champ in the division - Stevenson - who was champ when Ward got there and is still the champ now that he's retired.

To be the greatest in a division you don't necessarily have to beat everybody who ever fought there in mythical h2h match ups. It's based on a combination of h2h ability and resume and accomplishments. Plus I said arguably.

Being a big draw or being missed is irrelevant. It might make you rich or popular but it doesn't make you a great fighter.

Ward proved himself to be the #1 guy in his division, he became a 2 division champion by beating a highly rated p4p fighter who was expected to knock him out. He became p4p #1. He is arguably the GOAT in his division. Clearly a great fighter.

What about when Ward was trying to hit Bika in the eye with the point of his elbow on several occasions?

3 years earlier, he beat the person that was the consensus LHW champion.
(albeit a drawn version and at SMW), but the fact remains, he was the top SMW
and fought the top LHW and won.

Ward is a HOFer and possible ATG. It is what it is

Real pro, hard and gritty as nails, possessed of tremendous mental strength and determination, has exhibited an uncommonly broad range of skills. His career likely isn't done yet, so I'll assess his all-time standing when it is.

What? Stevenson was the top guy at light heavyweight and Ward never fought him. Before the Super Middleweight tournament began, Lucian Bute was considered the top super middleweight. He wasn't even invited.

Ward never proved himself the best in either division he won titles in.

He certainly NEVER proved he was the best EVER in those divisions. Not by a long shot. That's laughable.

And you seem really hung up on P4P votes, which aren't something you "WIN." It's a fantasy vote. Who bestowed Andre Ward with the #1 pound for pound designation? Fat Dan? Some producer at HBO who built a graphic? Some writer at Ring?

Who cares. It's just an opinion. Its not based on beating the #1 Pound for Pound. It's an award.

Yep another ATG move by an ATG fighter of the sweet science. “CRAFTY” as some idiots call it right?

Ward absolutely proved himself the number 1 at SMW. There was no argument, even people who hate Ward usually admit that.

Stevenson was not the top guy at LHW. Kovalev was considered the number 1 LHW and top 5 p4p.

He'll never be respected and considered an ATG by those who understand and appreciate the true greats of the past who were far more active fighters and didn't resort to bringing in ped suppliers into camp because they are so fearful of a rematch. I'm not even going to go into the disgusting butcher hack and slash, tactics he adopts in the ring.

I'd put him up there alongside the likes of David Haye when he was cruiserweight. Beat some of the best in his division at the time, then wanted no more and quitting at just the right time when the gen fighters came on board, before caming back again for easy paydays against bums.

That's it, there is nothing more special that defines Andre Ward's career.
