Yeah I would believe it. With Hearns, it was obvious that he was wobbled but he took a great punch and came back. No insult there. There was a question about chins recently asking who had a better chin Duran or Leonard. I said Duran.. Leonard's chin started to fail him once he started to get hit clean.

I don't see it at all, the punch moved him but it was just a case of being knocked off balance IMO.

I think SRL had a superb chin still. He had a lot of time off, rose in the weights and wasn't really that big. Could have fought at 147 forever imo. He also dabbled in some substance abuse i believe.

He never had Duran's chin. When Ray started to get hit he started to go down. Yes he got older, but he was going down when he clean. Those punches Duran took from Hearns were great punches and he didn't go down until the last one. And Duran did take a great Barkley left hook which turned him around and a great Ray right hand in the 3rd fight.

Toney took punches from Hasim Rahman and Sam Peter, that alone puts him a notch above the others. Fighting at heavy and still not getting really hurt or KO'ed really makes the difference here.

I agree. Ray's was good. I just think part of it was his slippery defense. Howard knocked him down and Ray was still only 28... And Duran hurt him with that left hook in the first fight in round 2 I think it was. I think when Ray was defensive it was hard to hit him clean. But Duran? He was hit clean and took the punches well. I never saw a guy take Hearns best punches so well. People remember that last punch, but he took many great Hearns punches before that.. And Barkley and Hagler... And Ray The only guy who seemed to hurt Duran with not so hard punches was Joppy. but by that point he was just too much quicker in 1997 or whatever year that was with Joppy.

Hagler had a ATG chin. But Toney edges the Marvelous one because
of JT absorbing some heavy hitters at HW. However it came at a serious
price for JT as he speech is sadly slurred now.

    Toney
    Hagler
    Eubank
    Hopkins

Although I dont rate them overall or h2h in this order if we are going solely on chin and the ability to absorb a punch I would call it like this

I'm surprised that people are picking Toney over Hagler. No doubt that Toney had an outstanding chin to go alongside his outstanding defense but Hagler was never down at middleweight (unlike Toney), much less stopped and was only really hurt by Hearns, who was throwing bombs, and even then only so badly that people aren't even sure if he was wobbled or not (I think he was but only very momentarily). Even Jake LaMotta was stopped at middleweight, albeit by a prime Robinson. Hagler has one of the great chins in boxing history.

I don't think Toney fought a prime fast Hearns at his best weight with that right hand.. What fighter did Toney fight who had that kind of power which hit him that clean. Duran had a great chin..

I would have to say Hagler because I have seen him hit clean by Hearns, Mugabi, Roldan & all could hit. Hagler could be outhustled or outboxed, I seen Antufermo crowd him & rough him in their 1st fight,An old Duran give him a good test & Ray outhustle him but I cant question that chin
