Because body shots are closer range punches than headshots. You can potshot from range but bodyshots are inside fighting. There is more accepted clinching at close range now and so most people neglect inside fighting. Also, body shots are meant to make finishing fighters easier, whereas you can score points with a light headshot jab and win a decision. It's more of a point game now than a fight. Also, the distance is shorter at 10 or 12 rounds but in the past it was 15. So body shots hurt stamina and stamina used to be more important.

Another great round for Estrada in the 9th! He now may have taken control of this. And he's up 5-4 on my card. Why can't this be 15 rounds?!
