Strength and Power vs Speed Chin vs lightning fast hands Who takes this and why? The Best, most lethal version of each fighter.
Patterson, the first of 2 heartless cowards both trained protected and probably molested by the terrible Cus Damato, gets KOd in 2 and dies days later.
You could make a strong argument for Patterson being the greater fighter, but head to head, Baer would just annihilate him. Even if he made more unforced errors than usual!
A strong argument?lmao you must be joking. Patterson was the greater fighter and there is no debate at all.h2h baer has a good chance to win
Patterson was the more skill for sure... But tough brutes with a little bit of skill seem to be his achilles heel. Baer rallies while behind on the cards and stops him in the 10th round.
Baer was much more crude than liston, but was similar in power and chin. Patterson is at a stylistic disadvantage here because his style basically requires him to get hit by Baer who had one hitter quiter type power, but Patterson was a smart fighter that knew when to box and when to go in for the kill, I think floyd got smarter with age and experience after the 2 liston losses, instead of fighting like he did previously going for the knock out if he fought baer like he fought against bonavena or chuvalo he would out class him, it would look like what Morrison did with foreman. But if Patterson fights in a aggressive fashion like he's known for in his earlier career than Baer would knock him out within 2 rounds
Baer was way too inconsistent to judge accurately. Clown Baer probably loses by points to Floyd. The Bad-bass Baer really only showed up in 4-5 fights in his career. But if Floyd gets stunned, and is wandering around the ring with his back to Baer, then you might as well call 911, and alert the hospital a "patient" is on their way.
Patterson has true skill with a true toilet paper chin. I think he would beat Baer more often than not, and probably look incredible while doing it. If he got caught though, they'd sell him to the nearest fish n chips shop as deboned hake, he'd go so limp.
Great idea for a topic. I pretty much concur with Grapefruit's analysis, in that a focused Patterson that sticks to his gameplan and takes minimal risks is going to outbox Baer by a large margin, but if he comes to fight, he's not going to like the end of that one.
Give me Patterson, and if by chance Baer does what many are picking??? Floyd would right the outcome in a sequel. Floyd comfortable decision is the more likely outcome for me.
