Uh, Mashallah. Or something. Never liked Beterbiev. And not because he is, in reality, an Islamic/Kadyrovian thug (as a fight fan, I can look past that), but because his lumbering, mummified style has always left me cold. I've long wanted to see Kovalev exact some professional revenge and put this bully in his place.
Are you serious? Because having Kovalev vs. Gvozdyk and/or Beterbiev is far more interesting than having them face each other?
Careful, you'll invite the wolves a'-howling. I once claimed that Beterbiev was stylistically a successor to Magomed Abdusalamov, which sent Kevin Willis foaming at the mouth. I think he's still traumatized, poor dear. He kept referencing it for months thereafter, citing Beterbiev's amateur credentials as though I weren't aware of them, and blustering about how OUTRAGEOUS and DISRESPECTFUL it was (somehow) to draw that comparison...even though I'm hardly the only person to notice a marked decline in Beterbiev's technique since turning over (counter-intuitive as that is, since most had always thought his style was very "pro-ready" in the WSB and regular amateurs, but not every individual transition can be smoothly predicted as we've seen time and time again...), nor did my comment make reference, neither express nor implied, to Mago's tragic condition, which armchair gotcha journo KW tried making it about, just his in-ring style.
