If Wilder gets to 40-0, that'll put him #3 all-time behind Holmes (48-0) and Rocky (49-0)

Currently, George Foreman and Deontay Wilder are tied among heavyweight champs. Both started their careers with 39 straight wins.

Beating Ortiz would lift Wilder to #3 all time, behind Holmes' 48-0 start and Marciano's 49-0 career mark for heavyweight champs.

    Wilder is so underrated.

Reaching the 40-0 mark for a heavyweight champion has only happened two times before EVER.

Kind of a mark of shame that he has that great a historical record and he's only now about to fight a concensus top 5 HW.

Kinda like LaMar Clark, who still has the HW record for most consecutive KOs.

Let’s not mention Wilders name with someone like Marciano’s. It’s kind of gross.

Yes, certainly Wilder is an ATG. Someone needs to put up a statue of this magnificent boxer.

I never understood why that 49-0 record was so big a deal. It is how many defenses they have more than a record like that where they could have fought a bunch of lesser quality fighters

Case in point how some sports statistics are meaningless and misleading.

Great as they were Holmes & Marciano fall way behind Muhammad Ali. Sont forget we were denies 3 1/2 years of his prime too. Having an 0 doesn't automatically make you great its the caliber of the competition you faced

Following this evaluation of Wilders resume... if Ortiz wins this weekend then does he immediately become a serious contender for ATG HW status ?

First of all, I'm pretty sure "my man" Foreman made it to 40-0 too, Gene Tunney even made it to 47-0-2, Brian Nielsen 49-0 and for Wilder to even take the Alabama record he has to surpass Don Steele, who also holds the Alabama HW KO streak record at 41-0, 41KOs. Last 2 weren't champions though.

Wouldn't be surprised that when digging a bit in the ye olde days, we'll find a couple more names in there thatn went 40-0 or above. 49-0 is the special mark.

I’ll be impressed if he makes it to 50-0 and beats Joshua in the process. That be something.
