If Wilder gets to 40-0, that'll put him #3 all-time behind Holmes (48-0) and Rocky (49-0)

Funnily enough Wilders next opponent is from the nursing home. But at least has some boxing skills.

Brian Nielsen already made it to 48-0 undefeated before losing as a HW WORLD CHAMPION.

No one considers him the greatest ever. Why is that Deonkey fans?

Tye Fields would have been 40-0 without his own version of Dustin Nichols / Hard Roc putting a bump on his road.

He'll be 40-0 with 39 KOs on March 4. He'll have seven WBC title defenses.

Marciano was never 40-0 with 39 KOs. Neither was Holmes.

Wilder could be 42-0 with 41 KOs by year's end, with KOs over Ortiz and Tyson Fury.

These threads where you guys rip him are going to look hilarious in the years to come.

That's why I want to reply to as many of you as possible so even if you delete or alter your posts your comments will still be visible.

So, years from now, people can keep bumping these threads and ridiculing you guys for being SO LAUGHABLY WRONG.

You can't see what's right in front of your eyes, because of your ridiculous bias.

You're comparing Wilder to Brian Nielsen.

And you think Brian Nielsen was a legit heavyweight champion, on top of that. (awesome)

It is hard to go undefeated at HW no matter what. I'm sure Lennox Lewis along with a whole bunch of fighters would know this.

As a matter of fact I did an entire thread on this and Wlad Klitchko and Joe Louis both lost in their 24th or 25th fight. Sonny Liston didn't even make it out of 10 fights before dropping an L.

Wilder SHOULD be undefeated BC he has absolutely a weak resume. A win vs Ortiz would then at least make his run credible, staying undefeated is not so easy as Wilder may very well lose his 40th fight.

And title defenses are the best way to gage quality.....Marciano for THAT time period accomplished a lot.

If he gets to 40-0 then it really makes him 2-0 vs. top 10 HWs. That's a decent enough record for a random belt holder but nowhere near HOF worthy.

Wilder has a great looking record....but it’s surface level. Digging in, looking at the quality of opposition that make up his 39-40 opponents it really doesn’t look that amazing. The 39 KOs are impressive simply because he’s stopping everyone he’s faced, but his level of opponents are a lot of C class and some B class boxers. It’s not all his fault. He’s a fighter and his manager and promoter are responsible for match making.

Wilder is simply doing his job and he’s doing it extremely well, however.....he’s not getting the accolades he wants because most people are well aware there’s little substance and depth to his resume thus far. Ortiz is a fight that will answer a lot of questions even though critics are already prepared to use the age of Ortiz as a way to discredit a victory over the undefeated Cuban boxer.

For me, I think Deontay is a good boxer, not great....but very good and top 3 in the current landscape of the heavyweight division. I think he’s criticized unfairly by many but feel his persona and shtick creates a lot of that. He’s just doing the best he can and hasn’t made a mistake yet. He’s a world champion and not one can take that away from him. It’s something few ever accomplish.

erm yeah - you're still not getting the point that stats can hide the truth.
The truth is he has fought absolute s**t opposition in those defences. In no way comparable to the opposition Marciano, Foreman or Holmes fought. By plucking out stats like this and comparing Wilder to ATGs you are just making a fool of yourself.

I think you may have forgotten Lamar Clark. He made it to 42-0 I think, although he mostly fought overweight bartenders and barroom brawlers. And of course, he was never a titlist.

And I think the Lamar Clark example amplifies your point. That said, even with 30+ years of multiple alphabet trinkets, Wilder has done a lot - comparatively speaking - when compared to other alphabet titlists.
