Impossible that Foreman would defend the title against that many weak opponents, though he would be happy to have one, since he had his Ramon defence nestling with his ATG and HoF defence attempts too. one thing you need to ask which versions ..so... well, its quite possible he would face these guys on the way up to the title, whe he was green so - tko3 Brewster, ko1 retired Brewster who Wlad beat ko3 prime sanders, ko1 old retired sanders who easily killed wlad in seconds. ko2 puritty He might defend the title in 1974 against one of them (the strongest, probably be brewie) as an "easy"/staybusy defence, with a quicker finish most likely. post title they might fancy their chances better, bereft as george was of confidence for a little while.
I think that they could all give him a hard fight and possibly beat him in different ways. Brewster and Ross were as tough as nails. They could really take a beating and keep rolling. Wlad essentially gassed himself out against these two, and ... surprise ... Foreman did the same twice in his career also. So yeah, if he punched himself out he was vulnerable. Sanders was dangerous in a different way - he had a really superb hard left straight that he used as a counter to torpedo his opponents with. Furthermore his handspeed was excellent for a heavyweight. I'd fancy him countering George's wide swipes. The real question, which is essentially unanswerable, is whether Sanders had the power to crack Foreman's chin the way he did to so many others or whether Foreman would weather the storm and beat him down in a slugfest. Either way, I'd doubt Sanders / Foreman goes past the 5th.
Well thought out post....can't say I disagree...Sanders being a hard hitting south paw would be a potentially dangerous opponent.
Purrity was a professional trial horse with a good chin and was hard to stop, wide Foreman decision over 10 or late TKO. Brewster is a face first zero defense heavybag, tailor made for Foreman, you aint beating young Foreman with your chin exposed on a silver platter...........Foreman KO around 3-4. The only reason Sanders is in the mix because he waxed glass chinned WK, otherwise nobody would have ever heard of him...........he is the ultimate fringe of the fringe soft chinned fighter who btw got iced by a Mike Tyson sparring partner in ONE.............and could not get by B - level Rahman who also never won a meaningful fight except the Lewis fight, total flash in the pan aka a no hoper. Dont take a pisz, dont grab a drink dont be distracted with your girlfriend because Foreman will end it so fast and at least you can enjoy a 90 sec absolute clubbing.
Foreman wins all of these by KO. Whilst Sanders had the nippier offense, he'd probably only get the one chance to launch an assault, before spending the rest of this short fight, going backwards, then downwards, then flatwards.
