Who decides whether a boxer should be inducted into the hall of fame?

    From the IBHOF website :

Members of the Boxing Writers Association of America and an international panel of boxing historians cast votes. Voters from Japan, England, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Germany, Puerto Rico and the United States are among those who participate in the election process.

An independent accounting firm tabulates the votes and the results are presented to the Hall. A news conference is held each year in December to announce the new class of inductees and the formal induction ceremony is held each year in June.

Okay! So there's no objective basis, other than personal opinion being the basis for inducting boxers?

I think the people who are sent the ballot papers are issued with at least some criteria.

    I think you misunderstood me.

I was just saying it'd be nice if they started stacking the best names they could a little earlier than they did in their careers. I'm not sure what your issue with Ike is but all I meant by naming him was an example of a good name Vitali could have picked up on the earlier end of his career.

I didn't say Tyson had a great resume I said Tyson was active during a more technically gifted era. To keep the same comparison, if Wlad is equal to Tyson then who is Wlad's Holyfield? It's not meant to be a disrespect to Wlad or Vitali it's just they didn't really have anyone until Wlad got old and Big V was already fighting Putin in a different sort of ring.

I'm not saying K2 should have had a crystal ball and known that the years they'd reign over would be mostly dry, dry enough for Haye to be a high point, but given it did turn out to be the likes of Chisora and Mormeck etc later on it'd be easier to make an argument for them today had they done a little more early.

Like it or not Ike Ibeabuchi carries a whole lot more respect than most of Big V's opponents did, it'd be easier to make a case for Vitali if he had Tua or Ike or maybe Grant or Moorer or had beaten Byrd or picked up a win over Golota or Rahman. it'd be easier to argue for him then trying to pretend his old man fight with Briggs was worth a damn or that Gomez was once more than **** etc. Again, not knocking the big Ukrainian just saying had they done a little more early we could at least point to those years and say when boxing was good the K2 boys did just fine.

    Vitali's best wins:

Samuel Peter - coming off a two/three year lay off to defeat the reigning WBC Champion in dominating fashion.

Herbie Hide - knocking out the WBO Champion in the second rounds after losing the first.

Corrie Sanders - a commanding victory over the former WBO Champion who had recently defeated his brother.

To be honest, I struggled to find three wins which I could consider in any way impressive. He was a great fighter but the problem for Vitali is that his resume is very weak

Who are these "people" you have seen recover from worse eye injuries? :dunno Call me a sceptic, must be bloodbaths.

Apparently VK's skin disgrees with you as it got budged 68 times. See my av for one of them - quality work there. :D

Vitali Klitschko has a PHD. He would know his eye condition better than anybody else. If he really thought it was that bad, he would've quit himself, just like how he quit against Chris Byrd.

If Vitali Klitschko thought he was okay, the fight should've continued. If he lost an eye, then that would've been his fault and nobody else's.

Truth is, Lennox Lewis couldn't beat Vitali Klitschko indisputably. So he didn't prove he was better.

He has a PHD in eye cuts? How does he see his own eyes without a mirror?

There have been some epic delusional VK fans here so you are really going to have to go all out. Good start though, laughed a bit.
