What does liking have to do with a greatness of a fighter? Calzaghe is an ATG fighter who rightfully is sitting in the HOF, Hatton was a very good fighter with a very enthusiastic and dedicated fanbase but not quite a "great."

Joe Calzaghe is a global ATG, and under rated by many over who he fought and his resume

Ricky Hatton never reached what I would call global ATG status because he was never the best of his era. But he was a great among British fighters.

Joe was never much of a likeable character in his interviews. Ricky was always more likeable and loved by the fans.

Hatton was the most overrated btpritush star I can remember. Great guy, don't get me wrong, but even his body punching was fairly ordinary really.....great guy Hatton but I have to be honest ....his ability was/is very overrated.

Calzaghe is a valid ATG with resume to prove it. Lacy was his best performance but not his best win.

Hatton was maybe over hyped in the UK but still became a world level fighter who fell just short at elite. He might not have had the slickest boxing skills but what he did he did well, just look at his resume (Tzsyu to Pacquiao) he only fell short at elite level.

I admire both of them for different reasons

Calzaghe for his undefeated resume and entertainment although I don't really know how good he was given his opponents were mainly pony. I did enjoy his skills and fights.

Hatton for chasing and fighting the elite even though he came up short. Think his career was wasted by fighting too many bums before he eventually fought for a World Title. Even he got bored by it.

Rubbish. He was an outstanding body puncher. You would struggle to find a fighter with a highlight reel of bodyshot KOs to match Hatton’s.

Yes overall he was probably over-rated, but you can’t say the man was an “ordinary” body puncher. That’s just crazy talk.

Looked at The Kostyra tzu win again recently ...wanted to see all the great body punching ...and I'm sorry I just can't see it! He was not a great body puncher....actually he wasn't particularly great at anything.....apart from toughness and determination. ...he just wasn't Im sorry. He was a pretty limited boxer actually. Definitely over rated.....even when it comes to the stuff he was supposed to be great at.....like body punching.

I've Been following boxing since before Ricky was born by the way.

Calzaghe was very very good though. No doubt.

Hatton wasn't all that tough let's be honest, he gave Mayweather more trouble than most fighters he ever fought and would have even more if not for a terrible ref performance.

Hatton had benefitted massivly in his career with favourable referees!

To answer the OP i think Calazaghe is quite underrated and rightly so considering his CV.

Hatton i wouldnt day is overrated i think people confuse well liked with class. He was an excellent mauler with heart. He only lost in his prime to ATGs thats not bad going for a guy ig his ability!

Hmmm Hatton was maybe a bit overrated, however he was still a top fighter. No shame in losing to Mayweather in a fairly competitive fight. His mind was gone I reckon by the time Pacman got him. Tyszu was a great win although he did catch him at the tail end of his career, Kostya would have beaten Hatton in his prime. Great character and fan base yet maybe slightly overrated.

Calzaghe probably underrated. He was such an effective fighting machine with some good boxing skills to throw in as well.
