If you don't think Saunders looses to McCallum and doesn't get knocked out by Julian Jackson your a deluded idiot.
Geeze, Graham not getting half the respect he used to on here. People used to view him as a legitimate talent that just barely came up short on the world title scene.
Billy Joe is still improving and jury still open on how far he can go. However he has shown a fine array of skills so far. Herol Graham a superb technical boxer reminds me of Howard Davis Jr . Just not destined to win the title and always lost his legacy fights. BJS on pts but its close.
Can someone point out to me one good win on Graham's resume and why he is so well regarded on this site? Other than a washed out Paz man. The guy lost to everyone, often in his own backyard. He's pretty much the MW Frank Bruno. "But but but he only lost to the best." I mean that tends to happen if you build a career on cans and only look for cash outs against the best. BJS has actually beat some top 10 caliber peers in Eubank Jr, Lee, and Lemieux. Even Monroe Jr is a solid win.
So when did Saunder's pick up a win equivalent to Graham's dominating stoppage performances over the likes of Lindell Holmes and Ayub Kalule? I was unaware he even had anyone on his record that good, none the less the better fighters Graham befuddled and nearly bested.
Outclassing Kalambay is HIS back yard (and getting robbed blind) is better than anything BJS has ever done.
The cards were fishy on that one, but it was one ugly fight, obviously neither guy was really world class anymore. I don't think a close brawl with a 36 year Kalambay who had been dropping in the ratings really trumps anything BJS has done. The fight that mattered was in 87 and Graham blew it.
I guess you could file this one as a win over a FUTURE titlist, though he was barely on the radar at the time, he got KOed by Dwight Davision too at this time who really wasn't a very good fighter. I just don't see any quality wins for Graham. Like I said, he's a MW Bruno, who beat the cans he was fed convincingly but couldn't get the job done against his peers.
Same here and it's not like Graham did not have his chances to win them. Where are his big wins??? Meanwhile, Saunders is undefeated, won Olympic gold and is a professional champion. He might be the best middleweight in the world by 2020 as GGG will be old 38 by then. I wonder if Saunders being a Gypsy or his boxing style has anything to do with the voting. I hear the Gypsy's are often viewed as outsiders in the UK.
you have to count peak ability, and Graham shows more. BJS may go on to beocme better, but so far his best win is... Lemieux, a crap titlist. And that was a good win for him. Its unfair for us to assume thats his level - we have to pick his level WHEN we see it, towards the endmof his career. He might well be inhenretly better than that. But we know for a fact that Graham had higher acheivemets and showed more abilty
Simply having a match with a subjective "ATG" is not an achievement. Graham got two shots at a vacated major title and lost both. Saunders has won a major title and defended 3 times. Sanders has actually defeated top 10 caliber fighters. Graham never did.
