Rack up the poll. Hatton has achieved more and is revered more. If you honestly believe that beating Quigg, LSC and Kiko is better than anything Hatton has done or achieved then you really need to find another sport. I tell you what you mentioned it so you best crack on with the poll and I'll be the first to post on it.
hatton was a bit of a shithouse, lets be honest. he was happy to talk and talk when belittling his uk rivals, accusing witter in particular of being a dancer and a runner (a uk belt holder in the same division at the same time). yet the only one running was hatton, with his mouth, and from signing the contract. pathetic on his behalf. yet he wouldn't hesitate to tell anyone who would listen that he was salt of the earth, man of the people etc. i dont think anyone begrudges him avoiding such a low reward high risk fight when he had far better options, but the manner in which he did it was really quite embarrassing.
I don't need a poll. I'm perfectly satisfied Frampton is better than Hatton. I don't need it clarified for me at all. Anyone with a rudimentary grasp of boxing could watch film of the both and see that. Maybe I'll do it sometime.....just to keep you informed... In the meantime have you considered maybe following another sport like badminton, or swimming.....there's plenty of them out there that are less complicated than boxing.
You mentioned it and I will hold you to it. Crack on with the poll although I know deep down that you must be the typical thick mick if you believe that Frampton has achieved anything similar to that of Hatton.
Witter was still fighting Kenyan taxi drivers whilst Hatton was fighting top 10 fighters. Funny thing is Witter didn't fight for his first world title until 06....at which time Hatton was just becoming a 2 weight world champion. Witter defended against true C level opposition, when he finally had to step up against Bradley he was found wanting, a bit like when he had to fight Judah.
it's sad with hatton. he mentally unraveled after the lil floyd fight and seemed to blame it on billy graham. Then he left the team and training style that brought the best out of him to go to that bs artist floyd snr and got wiped out by pacman.
I think Hatton is underrated these days...to put things in perspective Brook is considered a good fighter and his achievements and longevity don’t get anywhere near Hatton’s...
If Hatton and Calzaghe were yanks everybody would be going on about them They never got the credit they deserved especially Calzaghe Every time his name gets mentioned you always get a yeh but yeh but and it is all BS ! Non of them beat him when they said they would Non of them beat him when the press and the bookies said they would and he ducked non of them I think in years to come people will talk about him more .
Calzaghe IMO is quite overrated. Nostalgia works in his favour as well as the 0 he finished his career with. When you actually break down his record there are 2 very good names on there: Hopkins & Kessler. Eubank & Roy Jones were past it. His style was never that appealing to me, good skills and volume but abit slappy and scrappy at times. I find it funny when the question is asked of who is the best british boxer ever and the Calzaghe fans will say he is #1 and scoff at Lennox's record when JC resume is full of WBO B level defenses and LL has a top 5 all time HW resume. Hatton in my opinion was slightly underrated as he was very good up until fighting the 2 best fighters of his generation, in their primes.
JC - Very good figher who beat two legitimate A level fighters - Lacey and Kessler . Beating Jones and Hopkins (who were both way way past prime (39 year and 43 years old respectively ). Hatton - Beat one A level fighter in Tszyu. Lost to two ATG in their absolute primes. JC Gets knocked out by both Prime Roy and Hopkins. Hatton doesn't beat any version of Mayweather or Pacquaio. Both had great careers - B level fighters at world level (Belt holders). Its better than everyone on this forum .
Tszyu was waaay past his best against Hatton. Hopelessly washed up. A shadow of his best. People have to be realistic about this. Hattons skills were basic. He wasn't a great boxer. That's just the reality of the situation with Hatton.
Calzaghe's resume is underated if anything. Eubank ( he was 32 not 38 as some people allude to). Reid ; former champion Sheika ; had just beaten Glen Johnson Woodhall ; former champion Brewer ; former champion Mitchell; former champion Lacy ; unification fight Bika ; future world champion Kessler ; unification fight Hopkins RJJ That's 11 solid opponents who match up with any resume.
Have you actually watched Hatton fight? I mean actually opened your eyes to what you were looking at? Do you know anything at all about boxing? Ricky was stiff as a board from his hips to his lips! Like he had a poker up his bottom! No head movement. Hattons footwork was basic waddling....his jab was strong but slow and predictable. He was too inflexible to generate the whip his punches needed to give them a bit of extra speed and power. His body punching was ok against walking punch bags or old men who anyone could use for target practice. As for his footwork! Don't get me started! His footwork was basic waddling...that's all you could describe it as. Waddling. I've seen pensioners out for a stroll in the park who had more nimble feet than Ricky. Ancient washed up kostya thousands of miles from home, and untrained alcoholic coke head junkie eamonn McGee actually both outboxed him for long stretches. McGee had talent but he wasn't even the best boxer in Northern Ireland, never mind Ireland, never mind the uk or the world!! Had he been fit and clean and healthy McGee wudda beat Hatton like a drum. Carl Frampton is not only a better boxer than Ricky....he is so much the better boxer it's not even funny. Hell eamonn McGee had more boxing ability than Ricky Hatton. Honestly if you can't see that you're in the wrong sport. Now please log off for a day or two like a good chap.
