I really hope wilder gets parked up tomorrow night

I've been quietly confident for a while now that Ortiz will do the job on Wilder.

The guys had over 300 amateur fights, he is going to have a field day with someone as sloppy as Wilder who was getting outboxed by Szpilka, Washington and Durhurpas.

The only way I can see Wilder winning is if he starts windmilling and the ref calls a premature stoppage, he can't outbox Ortiz.

 

This is the fight that i’m looking forward to the most this weekend.

Ortiz is skilful for a heavy but I just think Wilder will be too fast for him. Age is going to catch up with him eventually, and I think Wilder will show it. He might be clumsy and sloppy at times, but he’s got a really good jab and a long reach with it. I think he’ll stop Ortiz on his feet.

 

Totally agree - unless Ortiz exposes a glass chin with a huge blow, Wilder will pick him off all night.

 

Ortiz has skills,but he's old and slow.Wilder wouldn't fight Ortiz at this stage if he thought he was a risk.A mega fight with AJ is looming.Wilder wont loose this,by hook or by crook !!

 

Ortiz's last good performance was 2 years ago, since then he has looked very offensively limited. This fight has come too late for him imo

 

Haymon would not have made this fight if ortiz winning was a possibility

He's in line for a cut of the AJ vs Wilder money you think he's going to gamble that on an old, unmarketable cuban for what? For the fans??

I would love nothing more than an Ortiz win but like twentyman says I see Ortiz being stopped on his feet.

 

I see what you mean. although Ortiz winning means maybe a boring reign for Ortiz against mediocre guys.
the reason I want Wilder to win is because he is more exciting than Ortiz, who looks like many guys from the 1980s who train one fight and then don't for another. Upsets are fun at times, but Ortiz vs. Joshua is just not a great matchup. We need Wilder vs. Joshua just for excitement and for boxing.

 

It would need to be early in round one then as there is no way this old man is up on points in this fight. Wilder simply too fit, too fast and once Ortiz feels the power then it is goodnight.

 

He’s definitely going for speed & fitness on this one, mate. Apparently he’s coming in at his lightest in 9 years (15stone 3ib). Joshua was laughing at his weight in an IFL interview a couple of months back, but I personally think that extra muscle slows AJ down and contributes to the stiffness in his movement. Wilder is a lot lighter but arguably has greater one punch knock out power than AJ.
