Good insights from a great fighter, tho not the wizardry manual it is made out to be by some.

Certainly relevant to boxing or any martial art.

I think it's the best technique book ever published. My opinion

After I read a section, I go to YouTube to watch the technique demonstrated. It turns out a lot of people have read the book and took to YouTube to demonstrate the techniques. I think some get it pretty close to right and some miss the mark. But all provide interesting interpretation.

The verticle fist and bottom three knuckle punching technique is very interesting. It's the technique Bruce Lee later favored with his lead hand. He actually led with his power hand and mentions the Dempsey book in some of his published notes.

I'm a little confused about this book, is this one a recent writ with Dempsey's name attached or the same as his How to Box from the 30's with a new name? If in affect its the same book it has some of the best teaching on infighting, how to increase punching power, and different types of hooks Jack used to the head and body as well as slipping and combinations.

Lee was also a big fan of Edwin L Haislet's boxing instructional book. It is the first book listed in the bibliography for Tao of JKD, sections of which are copied verbatim from the Haislet book.

Thanks! Personally I found Jack's book the second best of such books among many I owned with only the University of Minnesota's from the 1930's better and Bruce Lee quoted from that also. Jack wrote info in his book I haven't seen anywhere else.
