I could not believe his odds. I think he boxed better than ever tonight, I fancied him to win on points but not so easy. I thought he was outstanding What a people's thoughts ? Also scorecards I thought they were shocking I had McDonnell winning 10 to 2.
I had it on silent (my wife has the voice on). So I didn't listen to any commentary. I had him a clear 9 - 3 / 10 - 2 winner. After 4 rounds it was competitive but not really that close. I thought it was the body shots that did it.
It was obvious from the outset that McDonnell would have too much for him. Way too experienced and been in with much better opposition. People are far too quick to get carried away with these prospects coming through when they're looking good against English/British level opposition. Totally different ball game at world level unless you're a special special talent.
Was excellent performance, looked like he has improved. Loved the way he jabbed followed it by hooks then ducked and slide away whilst controlling centre ring.
Was there in person and McDonnell was very good. Yafai started quite well but the second half of the fight was all McDonnell and Yafai was lucky not to be stopped in the end. McDonnell is better than people give him credit for.
I’ll be honest, I expected Yafai to win. Then after the first round I thought my decision was vindicated but wow did Gavin turn it on. Career best performance! He absolutely schooled him. Fair play to the lad.
Gavin has improved and Gamal was overrated, the superior Mcdonnell bossed him in every department, very good performance.
Very good performance. Not sure if it was just me but McDonnell looked absolutely massive compared to yafai. Terrible scorecards. Also... Slightly biased commentary against McDonnell.
The McDonnells have freakish height and reach, great fundamentals, great chins, toughness, fitness etc very hard to beat then. The only way to beat them is to really work the body....if you can! Great body punching required!
