Wilder looked foolish, wobbled and hurt by an old man. Can you imagine what Gassiev does to him?

Gassiev gets knocked unconscious by a monster looping right before his brain even develops the thought of a liver shot.

That won't work with Gassiev. He keeps his guard tight and unlike Ortiz he's young and has great stamina.

Wilder would punch straight through that guard.

This. Gassiev isn't half as skilled or efficient as Ortiz is. Everytime Wilder tried to jab and turn he ate a straight left for his trouble. Ortiz's efficiency also allowed him to last as long as he did, but Father Time caught up with him. Wilder clearly underestimated Ortiz and it almost cost him.

Gassiev if not for the knockdown would have a draw with Lebdev. He has alot of potential, but Wilder would dispose of him right now.

It doesn't matter how much skill you have if you're old. If the body can't apply the skill then the skill is useless. Gassiev's defense is actually not that bad. He's a puncher. He keeps his guard tight and he stalks you down until he lands a big punch and then he unleashes his arsenal.

Which skills? Gassiev is also the same as Wilder in terms of skills, but he is smaller and slower. Usyk has more skills than Wilde, but without a punch I also don't see how Usyk can defeat WIlder

Ortiz has never won a belt in his life.
Gassiev is a unified champion, he's miles better than Ortiz.

Gassiev's punch arsenal and defense are much better than Wilder's. Gassiev has a good high guard. Wilder does not. He mostly just stands there and leaves himself open. Wilder throws a 1-2 and wide looping punches. Gassiev throws tight and precise punches to both the head and body.

Gassiev dissects Wilder. He just has so much more skill.

I'd love to believe it, but I think Gassiev just doesn't have the size and range to get to Wilder. Usyk against Wilder however would be a completely different story.

an old slow guy almost ko'd him tonight. Gassiev might not beat Wilder, but he certainly stands a better chance than most.

Many of these posts are just silly. Gassiev would go off as a sizeable underdog against Wilder, longer than 5.0/6.0. A lot of people had Dorticos winning early in their fight, and Wilder vs Gassiev would probably start like that but more one-sided.

Gassiev, whose opinion on Wilder I rate much higher than anybody on this forum, himself said:

Gassiev has youth on his side, which was maybe the one ingredient Ortiz was short of tonight.

I am VERY impressed by Gassiev. I think he beats Usyk who can fight. But let's be serious. Wilder rolls all over a 190lb. stringbean like Dorticos in 2 rounds.
