No ones laying out Tyson with one punch. It'd have to be an almost impossibly hard punch. Maybe a horse could knock him out with one kick or a bull moose could knock him out with one gore, I guess.

80' s HW had talent but not the desire. Wilder despite his height is not a
huge HW at 214 lbs so no massive weight advantage over the 80's HW.
I could see him ko plenty but also in some thrilling wars.
However no way he rules as long as Larry Holmes.

Wilder hits that damn hard, let's not forget Bruno had him wobbled and so did Holyfield early on.

Ali did an imitation of the "Mummy Foreman" in a pre-Zaire fight interview.
    Hilarious.

And this is it, for yourself in particular. Lets see how he goes in the looming battles vs other bonafide top 10 heavyweights.

Wlad dominated the division not long prior to today and copped endless criticism (much of it warranted imo) that it was a poor boring limited division. How different is it right now? Is it better? Is it much better? Would guys like Wilder and Ortiz have been relegated to contender only status? Are people more excited because we finally have some fresh American and British blood spicing things up at the top?

So many questions. Wlad is probably not even in my top 10 but i'd back him to make very comfortable work of Ortiz. I think he would have been a routine defense.

Should be be excited? You bet. The domination that bored so many is over and we have some exciting prospects at the head of the division. Big fights are being made and it's quite an open landscape. We have two guys at the top that have great power and are quite exciting to watch. They/or one of them also might even end up making a sizable name for themselves when all is said and done. Time will tell.

What makes a great era anyway? How can you actually prove that the 70's, 90's etc was any better than today's era? If he beats what's put in front of him that's good enough for me.

You can only beat who is put in front of you as guys such as Marciano and the like have shown. The rest is up to personal projection and the like.

Anybody who thinks Tyson couldn't handle Wilder''s power has never seen Tyson-Ruddock.

Good chance yeah, but there's also a good chance he knocks Tyson into Bolivion, Mike knows how to accept defeat.
