I'm no hater. Read my posts and then you will see how wrong you were. I got huge respect for Wilder, even more so now.

Its no excuse. Ortiz was clearly gassed.

That old Foreman would have went the distance with Wilder too, if he didn't put Wilder to sleep first.

Ortiz is an old 50 year old man who is sick, is on two blood pressure meds, yet he almost knocked Wilder out. Ortiz ran out of gas and started to swing willdly, with wide punches, slowed down, but until then he was winning the fight! Joshua will knock Wilder out cold!

David Allen, can you believe it... 7 rounds, it took him 7 rounds. Aghast, horror, shock. Nevermind the fact that Allen is primarily known for his iron chin.

Meanwhile AJ fanboys NEVER mention the fact that it took him 7 WHOLE FREAKING rounds to get both Breazeale and Whyte out of there. Oh, but he was just taking his time right? Sure, whatever. By the way, Breazeale and Whyte are kind of known for having flimsy mandibles.

He got hit with a big shot. I don't think stamina was the issue. A more agile (or younger) version of Ortiz may have been able to avoid those shots, but he did still have most of his success coming forward. He clipped Wilder with some nice shots on the inside in round 7. Good win to Wilder. The man just has a lot of power. He definitely doesn't look the part, but he has a massive right hand. He will KO AJ who is very chinny. Fury should be able to do what Ortiz would've a few years ago and that is box circles around Wilder.

How good is your reading their buddy? Did you read this in my post you initially replied to?
LOL first I was a Wilder hater and now I dont give Wilder his dues??? really? I recommend reading comprehension :) and thats a fair warranted recommendation, its not a put down at all because you clearly failed to read what was in front of you.

Yes, let's be real. Wilder just KO'd a top 5 HW who no one else really wanted to fight.

He also took LESS money to fight a better fighter in Ortiz instead of fighting Whyte. That is the exact sort of thing we should be absolutely applauding.

Yes, I also thought Ortiz was winning handily and making Wilder look a little foolish. Ortiz is a very good boxer, he'd do the same to many. What he isn't is a 12 round fighter and unfortunately conditioning is just as important a part of boxing. Might he have finished Wilder off a few years ago? Maybe and probably. Would Wlad have finished AJ of a few years ago? Maybe and probably. The HW scene now isn't particularly good, no. But it is interesting and we're getting some really cool fights from the fact it's competitive.

Wilder earned his props and I enjoyed his comments post fight. Ortiz showed skill and balls too, I hope he gives it another go. Rigo, take note.

Said it on the night, I respect Wilder now for showing heart. His chin is questionable still although he didn't go down he did a chicken dance off every flush shot.

I used to be a fan of Wilder till the talking became too much and he didn't back up anything he claimed. Saturday night was a start, if he can keep stopping guys classed as Top 10 then I'll once again be a Wilder fan.

The scorecards were disgraceful, absolutely disgraceful, that kind of explains to me why he took 5 rounds off.... he knew what was happening.

I think Joshua stops him in 4/5 rounds after what I saw Saturday, it gave me more confidence than what I had before that fight. He's too wide and too cautious in the start of the fight, Joshua has better feet, faster hands and more of a killer instinct than Ortiz.

That win will do wonders for Wilders confidence especially if you include the adversity he had too overcome, a boxer will never know what he's made of until he's in that situation.

The reality of it was, if Ortiz had a better gas tank after 9 he wins that fight, of course the robbery was coming but you know what I mean.

I don't think Wilder vs Joshua happens and I think Wilder will lose within his next 2 fights, that being said, he's got my respect now and he will continue to have it for as long as he keeps fighting the Top guys in this division.

Ortiz was a tough fight for Wilder than AJ will be imo.

Ortiz is far more experienced and had the ability to parry Wilders jab from the southpaw stance and take his right hand away for most part. He didn't allow him to get comfortable with the jab so he wasn't comfortable throwing the right hand as he didn't have his distance.

His positioning and defense is better and he has that counter punching ability with both hands. He's not a bog standard southpaw that just probes and prods to set up the left, he has an educated right hand.

AJ is more robotic and basic, there isn't a great deal to figure out he has no head movement which is a huge no against Wilder a guy who arches that right hand. He can't miss with it and doesn't have to worry about being made to pay like he did vs Ortiz who would look to counter over the top with the left.

He's a sitting duck for that right hand.

AJ is more polished than Wilder but he's made to order I feel. He just hasn't the craft or experience to neutralize that right hand and if you can't take that right hand away you're a dead man walking.

Excellent point and Ortiz has been the best opponent Wilder has taken on by some distance that kind of sums things up.
