    ...And?

His best victory was earning a DQ in a life and death match with an old and terrible Ray Austin where he was breathing like a dog that ran a marathon in a sweater. His form never looked good even against the poor opposition he faced. To call him a disappointment is an understatement.

    Luis Ortiz > Odlanier Solis

Actually, Luis Ortiz >>>> Odlanier Solis, if more of that symbol emphasizes the gap.

Amateurs and pros are entirely different animals. Amateur success is credentials from a previous career. Sometimes they can indicate potential in the pro game. Just as often they don't.

All the Solis backers, remind me again when did they fight for 12 rounds without headgear?

Ah, they didn't. All of you arguments are null and void.

1-4, 0-7, 0-9, what was it? I read somewhere that Solis won 5/6 against Ortiz. Solis was a very good fighter, ate himself out of boxing, and was snakebit against Vitali, who is a hall-of-famer (the injury probably wasn't helped by his weight).

Bottom line Ortiz is a real pro, Solis won his title the minute he hit Miami Beach for the first time, Ortiz dealt with the rain in Ireland everyday for years plying his trade, and it showed.

Solis quit in his first title fight.

Ortiz gave it his best in his first title fight.

That alone makes Ortiz > Solis regardless of what happened in the amateurs.

Vitali knocked Solis out in the first round! Old Man Ortiz simply worked harder, although he was sick, old as hell, 50, on two blood pressure meds, etc.. he had a better style, but ran out of gas and got wide, was cheated by the referee, was illegally thrown down on the canvas, hit behind the head, Wilder was given extra time to recover, if he had been younger he would have knocked Wilder out, Joshua will kill Wilder, and Tyson Fury will toy with him..........

I think Vitali ruined him :D He was on a good run before the Vitali fight.

I don't think he was ever fully dedicated as a pro, but that loss certainly didn't help. Killed the little drive he may have had.

Yeah it definitely did. He looked way sharper in fights before getting stopped by Vitali.

I think the Solis win was better than Wilders Ortiz win imo. And Solis was only 30 I believe. Vitali was pushing 40.
