Let's say on Saturday night, instead of fighting Ortiz, he fights the Mercer who fought Lennox Lewis to a stand still. Does Mercer make it or does he pull a "Morrison" on Wilder?

Wilder has the ability to stay away from Mercer and land that big shot, Bomb Squad knockout baby!

    Mercer stops him.

Wilder didn't hit harder than Lewis.

    These Wilder fanatics are embarrassing.

Wilder definitely hit harder than Lewis, wether or not Mercer could take his shots is the biggest question. I don't think any man born from his mother can take those rocket launchers without sustaining real damage.

Now Wilder "definitely" hit harder than Lennox Lewis.

Dear God, when does this end?

I love how "Wilder outboxes everyone" and yet the Wilder fans can't name one bout were Wilder outboxed someone the entire bout .Or his jab was really on.
News flash- Mercer had an underrated jab. Ask Lennox Lewis.

    Mercer KO 4-6.

The Mercer that fought Lewis was MUCH better than the old, out of shape Ortiz that showed up Saturday. And, quite frankly, Ortiz really doesn't have much of a resume. He has been labeled as some Cuban amateur "star", but, that is overstated. He never made the Cuban Olympic team, never succeeded at the international level, and lost 5 times to fellow Cuban, Odlanier Solis, in the amateurs. And Solis is (at least) 2 years younger than Ortiz, so Ortiz should have had the advantage early on in the amateur ranks. And, we all know how quickly Solis went from a prospect to an overweight bum many years ago. Ortiz looked painfully slow, and poorly conditioned on Saturday. He threw less than 40 punches per round and landed less than 9 punches a round. (Mostly Jabs). He didn't force the pace, or pressure Wilder whatsoever, but for that brief moment near the end of round 7. Despite that, Ortiz was clearly ahead through 9 rounds. If Wilder talked that trash to Mercer, Mercer would have taken his head off just like he did to Morrison.

Ortiz is a good fighter and did come close to stopping Wilder.

As for Mercer, he compares stylistically more to Stiverne but he is better than Stiverne with a better jab. The logical pick is Mercer by close decision. However, Wilder has the KO chance and it is possible he catches Mercer.Remember ray was put down by Wlad.

It would be the same as the first Stiverne fight, and Mercer could get knocked out if he squared up like Stiverne in the second fight.

Mercer is getting a lot of hype for a guy who lost his big fights and only beat two top contenders, once by squeaking by (Old Spoon) and once while way down on the cards (Damiani).
