Lewis V Ortiz ? How does Lennox do in place of Wilder ?

If that was Lewis in there against Ortiz in place of Wilder how's the fight go ?
The Lewis of the golota fight was around the same age as DW so we'll have that version.?

 

Lewis by 1st round knockout. Lewis is a bigger puncher and knocked out better fighters than Wilder or Ortiz.

 

We never saw Lewis fight a southpaw, so it's tough to say. I think it would be about the same as the Wilder fight without as bad of a scare for Lewis.

 

This isn't rocket science. Lewis was better than Bum Squad at everything. He stops Ortiz earlier, and it's less of a struggle.

 

Well ,I would have said so myself but I think you'll find a few on here disagree. I've got Lewis stopping Ortiz in 6 after a shaky start .

Lennox Lewis didn't stand so far outside like Wilder does. The two fighters would be closer, which means they'd be in each others' punching range a lot more often.

Lewis was also a lot more technically skilled than Wilder but didn't fight southpaws. Lewis may have had a hard time landing his jab because of that, and Ortiz's jab may have landed more often (because the fighters were closer).

I think it would've been a pretty tough fight. Either Lewis stops him in the middle rounds - like he did with Shannon Briggs - or it goes the distance and turns into one of those close fights like he had with Ray Mercer.

I see Lewis winning, either by stoppage or hard-fought decision.

But it would be a good fight.

Ortiz is better than the guys Lewis fought that year Lennox turned 32 (Golota, Briggs and Mavrovic). Golota barely made it to the arena that night (he showed up during one the last undercard bouts) because he was having a panic attack.

 

Hearing that Ortiz could supposedly punch and cause a threat, Lewis would have taken the fight seriously, and KO'd that plodding Ortiz in 3 or less.

 

I think Ortiz would have taken far more damage because Lewis would have boxed him as opposed to waiting for that one shot Wilder does..

 

1) First of all, Lewis wouldn´t be 4 rounds adrift in round 4-6 like Wilder was. Wilder had no movement + jab to stop Ortiz from pressing the fight.
2) Lewis could hurt Ortiz in anyway as Wilder could
3) Lewis would NOT BE behind on the scorecards in round 10!
4) Agressive Lewis of the Golota fight would stop Ortiz WELL before rounds 10...

 

Lewis would have given Ortiz a boxing lesson, but he would likely have fought safety first.

Concur. Lewis fought better 'contenders' in his era, while Wilder is still learning. The term "Hvywt Contender" today might mean: "One who is adverse to tending a garden (based on the talent level")

 

Lewis dropped two belts to avoid two southpaws that weren't that much better than Ortiz. Lewis was flattened by one of those southies during a sparring session. Lewis in all likelihood would avoid a fight with Ortiz .

 

Ortiz is too slow and non-explosive to give Lennox problems. On a normal night Lennox takes him out in 6.
