Only one top ten fighter who as over the hill, 50 year old, sick Ortiz..................Joshua will knock Wilder out so will Fury. I am convinced more than ever that Joshua will knock Wilder out, can you imagine what Joshua would have done to Wilder?! Fury will toy with him, remember, Fury is faster, straighter punches, moves well, has the size at 6 feet 9 inches tall, is much heavier, stronger, can bully Wilder around the ring..................Wilder does not have skills, he won't have the height advantage against Fury, and Joshua is almost as tall as Wilder, but much stronger, more skilled, more powerful, etc.
Pretty much this. I also have to respect that he comes shredded and ready to go for every fight he's in. I think the guy is as dumb as a box of rocks, but his dedication in the gym should not be questioned.
I'm not a fan of Wilder either and i find this hysteria by his fans comical. The man is not near hall of fame stature- he has long way to go. His resume up to Ortiz was embarrassingly soft. That is why he has faced so much criticism. He fought nobody to earn his title eliminator with Malik Scott. And he defended six times before facing a ranked opponent- who we dont really know how old the man was, or how good he would be off steroids. And Wilder was clearly losing until his power bailed him out again. Wilder showed heart, he has that, and he showed his big right hand again but the man has a million flaws to go along with those positives. He is not even viewed as the best in his division yet and at 32 years old thats pretty old to not have earned that yet. In fact time is not on his side by 32 Tyson's best years were behind him and Riddick Bowe was retired. Joshua and Fury if he returns have the claim as top dogs. Parker, Povetkin and Wilder round out the top 5. I know everyone is excited after his dramatic comeback win and many American fans want a heavyweight star, myself included, but take a step back and dont become a prisoner of the moment. His resume is still light and until he can legitimately claim to be the best heavyweight in the world for a few years should we even entertain him in the same breath with guys like Holyfield and Tyson. Has Wilder really set the bar so low that one win in 40 fights against a legit live underdog has people heaping delusions of greatness upon him?
And where's Jennings now that he's such a yard stick. The man had who Mike Perez on his win colum? Oh the man who's biggest win was Mike Perez
When Wilder has someone on ***** street looking for the kill, a lot of his punches seem to land right at the back of the head. His opponents stagger forward after being hit by Wilder, he gets away with some dangerous, illegal shite in my opinion.
I am a fan on the sport and the sport needs characters like him, He fights like a made up character in a video game, He has his flaws but hes also effective and has the ability to "bruk dem up" at any moment of a fight, This makes him exciting and entertaining to watch. I think tyson fury is by far the most talented current HW by a landslide and possible one of the greatest we have seen in a very long time. That said both Wilder and AJ have the ability to "bruk dem up" at any moment in any fight against anybody, HW boxing is super exciting right now, i wish people could leave their personal emotions out of fights and just enjoy them. Its one reason i miss the golden era before social media, you didn't get to see much about the personal lives of fighters and so there was less personal emotional biased from people, people just enjoyed watching a good ass fight.
Good post, many valid points. In your opinion when does Wilder gain greatness and is not just considered a hype job? If he beats Joshua? Fury?
No your right, it all has been done before. Wilder was just trying to show like he did more damage to Ortiz at the time than he actually did. I also admire Ali, but sometimes when watching his fights again I got to kind of turn my head haha
The crazy thing is we don't know yet how good Joshua actually is. He could fall in the likes of Bruno or Ruddock, but we may find out within the next few years.
A basketball player with a punch that got into boxing very late in his life. Managed to win a Bronze metal at the Olympics and become heavyweight champion. Wilder is a success story regardless of you try to slice. Ask yourself this question. Are you a better success story than Wilder? What are your personal accomplishments? You're so desperate to see him lose that you've now placed your hopes on cruiserweights. Usyk and Gassiev? It's obvious that you're jealous of Wilder, which is quite embarrassing because that's a female tendency. If wilder is a joke as you claim, they what are you?
Some Dumb mother****er if you aint blizzy anyway..I don't usually talk about boxers like that but I replied to Blizzy in his style of writing because if you scroll up he was disrespecting HW's calling them bums and other childish stuff, so I replied in kind and gave some of the truth juice about Wilder. That's how you deal with muppets like Blizzy on here, you do what they do back at them and worse.
Sooner or later, most objective boxing fans will realize Ortiz was a spent force. Wilder took the fight years later; he wanted no part of Ortiz or Povetkin 2-3 years ago. Hmmm... As it was, he defeated Ortiz. Ortiz's numbers were fudged. We learned his reach was 78" ( not 84" ) and him shrunk in height to 6'3" tall. Who knows how old he is? Listed at age 38, who will be 39 this month. I heard age 41 from a Cuban Source. That version or Ortiz, a spent hurricane if you will had Wilder who was down on the points ( Wilder won 2-3 rounds of the first 9), and fighting dirty. Ortiz wasn't young enough or in shape to compete at a good pace for 12 rounds. Based on his average defense, lack of boxing ability to win rounds at the fridge contender to world class level, and being gun shy vs punchers, Ortiz was comfortably in the lead. Wilder had to start swinging, and to his credit caught the older man. I doubt Wilder will stay on tops like Wlad, Vitali or Lewis if he fights younger top ten opponents. Like I said earlier, who he fights next will tell me everything. Joshua will drill him. Povetkin even at his age will also beat him, so look for Wilder to possibly take that fight if Povektin is 40 or older. And mark my words Hrgovic in a year will also beat him.
