El Pollo was caught two times! He has been eating the same meat for years, plus El Pollo's gloves were illegally wrapped! Nevada Boxing Commission and Bob Bennett is on El Pollo's side, they are planing on cheating Golovkin. They did not want Sanchez to watch El Pollo's gloves wrapped, they threatened to throw him out of the room, then there was the judge Byrd. I really think Oscar will hire Tony Weeks so El Pollo can land low blows like SOB did to Kovalev. With all this evidence, Bob Bennett refused to even review the low blows by SOB Ward which were very low no doubt about it, that was corruption! I hope the commission does not try this on Golovkin.....................

So according to the official letter provided by VADA, Saul Alvarez tested positive for clenbuterol in two collected samples (17th and 20th Feb). The first sample level is 0.6-0.8 ng/ml while the second one is 0.06-0.08 ng/ml.

Alvarez' management and promotional team have blamed the positive doping test on a food contamination issue in Mexico.

As we know, the WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman had made peace with Alvarez prior this, where Canelo agreed to fight for the WBC title this time. Unsurprisingly, it was none other that the WBC and Sulaiman being the first to rush in Alvarez' defense and declare that "Canelo has our absolute vote of confidence".

Such statement, before any investigation has been done, is at least strange and concerning. However, that's not the only thing that is concerning, since we all know that the WBC is based in Mexico, and it has defended Mexican boxers who had tested positive in the past. Francisco Vargas was also positive for clenbuterol, whie Luis Nery tested positive for zilpaterol. Although being positive for different drugs, both boxers had blamed it on alleged food contamination. If I am correct, Nery didn't even request his B sample to be opened. Anyway, Mr. Sulaiman has defended both boxers and WBC eventually cleared them.

Now, another problem with it is that in neither case it was actually proven that they in fact tested positive specifically because "food contamination". The strongest argument by Mr. Sulaiman were that they he believes that food contamination is the reason, on the sole ground that there is an issue in Mexico with contaminated food.

What does this mean in reality?

This exactly means that any boxer, fighting out of Mexico, is free to inject himself with a particular amount of clenbuterol, zilpaterol, or any steroid that could be found in contaminated Mexican food, and that the WBC will not do anything about it. This is, of course, against the rules in any sport, including boxing.

A few years ago, a cycling champion, Alberto Contador was also caught with clenbuterol. His levels were 50 picograms/ml, which is lower that what Alvarez is caught for (0.05 ng/ml, compared to Alvarez 0.6-0.8 and even 0.06-0.08 ng/ml). Coincidentally, Contador also blamed it on food contamination. However, he was banned by the Cyclist Federation for 2 years.

We have even had a similar case in boxing not long ago, where Lucas Browne tested positive for clenbuterol. What happened is that Browne was stripped off his title and suspended by the WBA.

So the question is, considering that the doping rules apply in every other sport, and even in boxing in the mentioned Browne/WBA case, why would WBC refuse to apply the exact same rules on Mexican boxers on grounds that they may have been contaminated by food?

As mentioned, every logical explanation that makes sense points to something that is very concerning, and illegal. Now, would anything like this have been possible if the WBC was based in Monaco or Swtizerland for example instead of Mexico? Obviously no. Therefore, it is clear that the WBC and Mr. Sulaiman are responsible for these things, which are deeply sank into corruption. Because if serious investigation was ever conducted on this issue (as it would have in most sports) it would not be the boxers that face the biggest consequences.

Well people said he'd duck Lara, then people said he'd duck GGG. Canelo gives the fans what they want, even if it takes some building(or signs fo decline) like the GGG fight.

I was a fan, l like his style of boxing and thought he deserved at least a draw in the first golovkin fight.

But doping is unforgivable, it's a huge black eye to the sport if he is allowed to fight on without any consequences. This along with Yoka getting away with 4 missed tests makes boxing look horribly corrupt.
