Which HW Champion would you pick to "win" a fight against Tyson before the bell rings. I'm going to exclude Ali and Foreman from this discussion, so who would you pick?

I think a lot of the old time heavyweights might have Tyson a bit cowed because he greatly admired and tried to emulate some of them. He's stated as much several times over the years. Check out his black boxing shoes, no socks Jack Dempsey look he rocked throughout his career. I know I've heard Tyson talk in absolute reverence of fighters from the past, especially the heavyweights.

Floyd Patterson greatly admired Archie Moore and grew up watching him fight....we see what happened there.

The same thing has happened innumerable times throughout boxing history, and no, it certainly doesn't always mean anything. But we're not talking about ancient versions of Moore or Dempsey or any fighter here.

Jimmy Braddock might be another shout.

Performed well above his pay grade in that regard!

I highly doubt Braddock would have a fight with Tyson won before they entered the ring. The guy didn't have the tools to win in any way, shape or form.

I also think Vitali Klitschko does.

Big guy. In shape. Smart. Dedicated and a gym rat. I think he intimidated a lot of guys---he just did not do it with words. but that pre-fight stare of his always translated that he was a guy ready. And he'd prepared well for like 6 weeks and he was peaking at 11pm that night and was very very confident.
