Nailed it. I think it will be Dom, which I'm good enough with. He's a fringe top 10 guy and would make an interesting narrative and an interesting style clash. I think Dom's size and toughness would pose Wilder problems. I could see him losing a lot of rounds and needing a ko like Washington. But Whyte Browne winner would have a much better resume than Dom, so I'd prefer that one. Especially if Browne wins. I think Whyte would be easier for Wilder than Dom, but if Browne beats Whyte, I'd give him the best odds of the three.
Dominic is the obvious choice, they both wanted to fight a year ago, and would be the closest Wilder could get to a Joshua size opponent with some skill. Though Charles Martin is a real possibility, Martin was going to be the stand in if something happened to Ortiz.
Yeah, I recall and it has worked out better. I think my issue was more that I didn't think Wilder would actually take a dangerous fight, which is something else I've since been proven wrong on. Although I'm confident in thinking we won't see this fight for a little while yet, which kind of kills the buzz a little.
I think we'll see it by the end of the year. I suspect they will want to test American PPV possibility more, and each have a good but not great fight in America in the summer, see how that does, and then fight each other later in the year. Either in Vegas if both do good numbers in the summer fight, or UK if not. I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting it earlier, but I'm good enough with that schedule. If it goes into 2019 and no fight is scheduled, then I'll start blaming one or both sides.
If that's the case then hopefully it's not Martin. Breazeale and Kownacki while limited and probably playing right into Wilders hands know how to bite down on the mouth piece and wouldn't show up to lay down. Martin just wants another payday.....
Getting starched, IF he faces a decent fighter that isn't a) old; b) on high blood pressure meds; c) past his prime; d) not really as good as people think; or e) all of the above. Like others have said, look for Wilder's management to find some more stiffs like Charles Martin,to KO.
