I got 9/4 Quigg to win. Just win. High street bookies, not great odds, but I stuck s tenner on Scott. He desperately needs this one if he is to ever rematch Frampton. He just might "want" it more than Valdez. That's what I'm hoping anyway.
Totally agree Len. How often do you see it and trainers are either not seeing fight for what it is or are to scared to tell the fighter the truth ? I am seeing it more and more, but as you say how you can expect to e n rounds when your not throwing a punch it's beyond crazy pal.
Surprised Valdez is such a heavy favourite. Think Quigg is still underrated and 3/1 is a very good price imo.
I agree about Joe G. He clearly is a good trainer but there is something about either him or his training methods that can’t quite make a really good fighter a great fighter. If you look at all the fighters that have been with him and still are you would of thought maybe one of them could or should have gone to elite. Understand I’m not knocking him, his fighters just seem to lack a certain something.....
The problem with Gallagher is he can create multiple ‘descent fighters’ but can’t take them beyond. I see the Same happening with Callum smith. It’s possibly to do with the size of his stable and so not enough attention for each fighter that’s my theory. As for the quigg fight he is more than capable of beating Valdez as I believe he was of beating frampton. He’s did a job on Monroe and Martinez but looked lacklustre against salinas and frampton. I really do feel if he doesn’t generate a real stand out performance this weekend we may never see one and it would be a shame as the potential is there
Joe is obviously a great man to get you fit etc. But his oerformances in the corner have been poor, and have cost his fighters. He clearly has no idea about pacing a fight or how to accurately judge what is going on in the ring. Telling Quigg he was doing fine without throwing any punches was pretty grim stuff. All his fighters seem to box like clones of each other...straight ahead, high guard, and whatever you do don't move your head!...no subtlety.
You HATE Quigg with a passion. Every Quigg thread you flood the comments with nonsense. It's always the paddy Framptons fans that try to minimize him and his achievements. You are to Quigg what Ashishwarrior is to Khan, and DinoVelvet is to Klitschko, HerolGee to Calzaghe, etc.
I don't hate Quigg. I support him and wish him every success. I discuss every boxer honestly....faults and all. I'm sorry if you see this as hate. I have bet on Quigg to beat Valdez.
I think the honesty is summed up by fact though your a big Carl Frampton fan you are honest enough to admit you think he would struggle against Selby. Plus you know a Quigg win and a Frampton win could lead to a monster fight between the two at Windsor Park in the Summer.
Thanks. I'd actually go further. I don't think Frampton is big enough to compete at 126 with his style. He was a monster at 122, stopping nearly everyone ( bar Quigg) ....yet it's plain to see Carl's kos have dramatically dried up at 126. That is not a coincidence. Quigg on the other hand is plenty big enough to compete at 126, unlike Carl. Selby is all wrong for Carl, they will probably box this summer, and I fear for Frampton in that fight. EDIT...I see now that Carl has thrown Quigg a lifeline...saying if Quigg wins tomorrow night he will consider a rematch. Watch this space!!!
Yeah I agree with you about Carl, was an outstanding super bantamweight but I too feel he's a level below up at featherweight. Selby on the other hand is huge for weight I think he would be an average sized lightweight tbh. I seen Carl saying that, he knows financially with history him v Quigg if Quigg beats Valdes for world title is bigger than a fight v Selby, plus he has a better chance of winning it. Would feel for Selby though.
It's all just talk at this stage. Scott has to win tomorrow night. Lose that and he can say goodbye to a Frampton rematch. Even if he can win against Valdez ....do people really want to see Quigg-Carl II? Is there really a demand for it? I'm not so sure. Their first fight wasn't all that great to watch, it was a bit of a let down to be honest, and the result was pretty conclusive.
