I'm sure Davis did mean something along the lines of "Wilder fights like a boy-who-acts-like-a-girl" (thereby possibly earning 2018's worst smacktalk award), but etymologically this is all over the place. The "tom" part of "tomboy" isn't there to negate the "boy" part, or to suggest femininity - it is supposed to suggest masculinity, as in "tomcat". In fact, I think tomboy originally meant a wild male child or something along those lines. So... tomgirl, if you look at the semantics, is actually probably a better word for a tomboy than tomboy itself, it being a more literal description of a girl with masculine qualities. "Tom" is supposed to derive from Thomas being the most typical man's name back in the 1800s when the word was coined, so the inverse of a tomboy is something more like "Janegirl". If somebody could tweet that at Gervonta I'd be most grateful. I'm going back under my rock.
