Quigg had a nightmare from start to finish....Freddie Roach is a dreadful trainer too..

Exactly how I feel about him, I remember when he had lovely boxing before.

When he said about his last two fights that he took risks because he could, I didn't believe it and it was a huge worry. No one fights like that at his level if you can box and win, the fact it also doesn't prepare you correctly when you face a class operator.

Like you said, he's stuck not knowing what his identity is, which is a shame because now he's just turning into a walking punchbag.

I can’t really see where he goes from here, unless Frampton loses to Donaire. His face is in some state, Lord knows what his brain is like.

Roach has been all wrong for him and I think many of us have seen that from the start of their term together.

Quigg needed to add more to his game under a new trainer, he now has less.

His previous two fights, excuses were made for his performance saying he didn't need a defence because the opponents lacked pop. That's completely irrelevant, those easier fights are about practicing what you've been learning in the gym, about performing your new tricks on the big night. He has failed to do so every single fight since joining Roach.

I've no doubt he gets great sparring out there, but that's not enough, you need a trainer to spend time on your development. Look at CEJ, he's had great sparring all his life and no trainer. It's not enough at the top.

I’m glad people are being realistic about quigg. He has regressed and surely he can look at his own performances abound the Monroe fight and now his last 3 fights with roach and see what we all can see. Retire, Scott. Now.

Good post. Quigg takes far too many shots and needs protecting from himself.

I would say to kojak and Twentyman...excellent posters....that it’s way beyond “lost his identity “ here. Or any such psychobabble... The poor guy is washed up. He hasn’t got it anymore. He was throwing punches at places Ov had vacated two days earlier. That’s what’s wrong. Not anything to do with identity sorry.

His timing was miles off. Just punching at thin air constantly. It was strange and very sad to see.

Quigg not all that is he, takes too much shots , showed heart but I reckon he'll have a couple of stay busy fights before he gets beat again

    Cheers Len, likewise :)

Perhaps there’s some truth in both? He could be washed up, and he recognised that. So he ditched Gallagher in the hope of a bit of a renaissance under Roach. Either way, it’s very sad to see. Like you and @BigDoofus say, he’s taking too many big shots and I hope he retires before it’s too late.

Did he ever have it or was he another misMatchroom hype job? When he steps up he's a punchbag.

He was always a handful. Big at the weight, strong fit and tough with power in both hands. Up to the Frampton fight he was a handful. But nowadays he is so slow and predictable that I think he is shot and should retire. He is just trying to walk through guys with brute force and ignorance - like a caveman swimming through treacle....

I think he would be best with Ricky Hatton. Quigg was head hunting all night with big looping looking shots that were too often telegraphed. He needs someone to get him to work his way in with jabs and needs to throw more hooks as Valdes was open to them. He needed to work body to slow down opponents as Quigg is an excellent body puncher. One thing for sure his move to the US has highlighted our top coaches are as good as those in the States.

Excellent post. Quig has...or had...good fundamentals. A jab and body attack. Where's all that gone?

USA trainers aren't all that. They headhunted our billy Walsh from little old Ireland to train their national squad for the Olympics.
