Tapia vs Ayala. Tapia robbed both times

 

Can't think of a double robbery but as for the latter I can think of Ayub Kalule being down twice against Sumbu Kalambay and winning the decision, Ezra Sellers and Michael Carbajal getting up from 2 knockdowns and knocking out Carl Thompson and Chiquita Gonzalez respectively.

 

Just thought of another one. Jose Luis Ramirez coming back to stop Edwin Rosario after being down twice.

 

Two out-and-out robbery losses against the same opponent are probably rare, but there are several examples of two decision defeats that could just as well have gone the other way. From what I've read, Greb's two title defeats against Flowers could just as easily have been scored in his favour. De La Hoya vs Mosley also comes to mind... as does Pacquiao vs Marquez.

As for boxers going on to win a fight despite being floored at least twice - that must have happened hundreds of times! Moore-Durelle, Taylor-Anaya, Louis-Walcott, Hamed-Kelley, Foreman-Lyle are some that come to mind.

 

Peter was dropped 3 times and won against Jimmy MaCline and Wladimir was dropped 3 times and won against Peter.

A little off-topic but it’s been said over the years that Trinidad was dropped twice by Cortes. I don’t know where this came from, he was clearly only down once. I think he was more hurt on this KD than he was on his many other early fight KDs, but recovered well. He was also a little fortunate it came at the end of the round.

 

Floyd Patterson was down twice in the first round of his third bout with Ingemar Johansson and he won by a sixth-round knockout. (Ingo was also down in that first round.)

In his first bout with Oscar Bonavena, Joe Frazier was floored twice in the same round but got up and won the decision. Incidentally, the three-knockdown rule was in effect, so if Joe had went down one more time in that round it would have went into the record books as a TKO loss.

 

While I would not call it a robbery, many felt that Floyd Patterson deserved the victory in his two bouts with Jerry Quarry in 1967. The first was ruled a draw, and the second went to Quarry by virtue of his two knockdowns of Floyd. Under the California scoring system, the points awarded for the knockdowns gave Quarry a huge lead in points that Floyd was unable to overcome. If I remember correctly, Patterson won more rounds, but it was points that determined the winner of that bout.

 

As mentioned there are lots of examples of someone being knocked down twice but winning, as for your other question: Johnny Nelson being robbed twice against Adilson Rodrigues comes straight to mind.

 

Robbery is a strong word... although I feel Marquez deserved fight 1 and 3 vs Pacquaio.

 

Both scenarios uncommon, not rare.

 

Kovelev against Ward springs to mind, first of all gets robbed by the judges after clearly winning and then gets robbed by the ref who took hitting below the belt to another level.
