I would say Chuvalo would have a good chance to beat Max on an off day. Tex Cobb Vs Max Baer would be one of the greatest fights of all time. The sheer amount of zingers, and entertainment would make it a favorite re watch. Perhaps not for the action in which Tex Cobb eats right hands all night ,but the after shows and interviews would be legendary. Fans would demand a rematch , and they would go on to fight 5 more times. Probably making more money than any heavyweights in History. Patterson would be all over Max for around 6 rounds until Max hits him and he disintegrates. This could be a tragedy though, as Patterson would not know to stay down.
If Max is "on", he may stop Chuvalo in a manner similar to Foreman. He beats up Cobb Archie Moore could possibly out box him and Moore did well against some top shelf heavies. Either Moore wins a convincing decision or he gets stopped. Give a slight edge to Baer.
I was thinking Floyd Patterson. Archie Moore , is another fantastic fight. Max has all the physical advantages, but Archie is a master. To me this looks like a bigger version of Duran Vs Barkley. But Archie does not have the sustained aggression that he needs to whittle down the incredibly stout Max Baer. Max may lose on points, but I would bet, that he scores several knock downs late in the fight, and that would swing the bout in Baer's favor. Archie does not have the stamina to stay at the pace he needs, to outbox the Prime Max over 15. While on the flip side Max has the power to hurt Archie, and as the fight goes on I think Archie starts taking to much of a beating. Archie is perhaps the best LHW in history, but this is perhaps a bridge to far. Max by Late stoppage, or Decision.
I think he beats Baer off skill Baer did not bomb away relentlessly like the Rock.....but I tend to think the right hand he dropped Marciano with was a great one in a million punch landed on a unsuspecting Marciano who did something he was rarely caught doing he was reaching and I don't think he suspected Moore being a Ltheavyweight champion could drop him like that hence the being caught. Moore was definitely an ATG hitter at Ltheavy and a decent one at heavy but I think it was the perfect sneaky foil to Rocks relentless power punching I think he thought he would roll over him much easier than he did.
Look! A unicorn! .... but I suppose it's possible. On another note, Tokyo Douglas > all other heavyweights.
That was his best fight imho. That said, Schmeling played right into Baer's hands by fighting in a phonebooth all night long. Its like he wanted to prove he was the harder hitter with the harder chin. Never going to work against Baer when you are the smaller guy. In my opinion a clever boxer befuddles Baer all night long and Moore would probably wipe the floor with him.
