Now Quarry would be considered a cruiser weight today, I get that. But, he has a record of beating men who'd be considered heavies, even by modern standards, some of whom were big punchers. Lyle, Foster, Shavers, Mathis.

Could Quarry be the man to break his undefeated streak or is Quarry too little for this task?

When you say heavies by modern standards bare in mind Wilder only weighted 214lbs v Ortiz and that`s lighter than the guys above.

Wilder was only 214lbs v Ortiz so the size in that respect doesn`t come into it, the problem with modern heavies vs smaller fighters like Quarry is the reach, I think Wilde got the longest reach in boxing history apart from Sonny Liston, Quarry`s arms were really short so that would be really difficult for him but if he got inside he would beat Wilder who`s dreadful on the inside.

The Quarry that bombed out Foster has an excellent chance of stopping Wilder.

Yeah he had the kryptonite for big punchers that lacked speed and/or technical skill.

He was considered a legitimate threat to George Foreman back in those days, so he'd likely be a legitimate threat to Wilder as well.

Yeah that reach would be a mofo . Quarry would have to find a way in to win it. Staying on the outside of Wilder's reach and power is asking for trouble.

Would start off with Quarry pressing action and Wilder wouldn't back up
and start trading and it would be a slugging match. Both fights would be
wobbled but however with the fight in the crossroads Quarry suffers deep
cuts and the fight is stopped in the 4 th.

Quarry had the boxing skills to win this and I believe that he'd hit hard enough to hurt Wilder at 195-200 pounds, but Quarry would be stopped if he neglected those skills and looked to go toe to toe.

Quarry suckers Wilder to chase him onto the ropes quarry bounces off gets inside Wilder’s long arms and lays him out.
Wilder has been rocked now by Molina (a non top 50 heavyweight who never should of been in ring as a title defense)
And now Ortiz a legit if past prime heavy also clipped Wilder. On the inside with a hook. And had him hurt.
    Quarry finishes him.
Wilder getting drastically overhyped if Wilder fought the men Quarry faced on the way up he never wins a belt. Wilder has been protected and coddled all the way up to his last fight.
How many top 10 guys did Quarry best? I know Wilder now has 2 and lets be honest did Stiverne even show up in that first fight.

It's a winnable fight for quarry if he could avoid getting cuts , but I'm afraid he suffers the old problem. Jerry wins the first 5 rounds going away , even rattling Wilder .But wilders punches open s up the skin of Jerry and a round later the refs seen enough .Wilder wins RSC 7.

Wilder does not nearly have the second longest reach (or wingspan, which you likely mean).
Even Lewis had was 84", & many others are listed around that mark, like Rahman who fought him. The average NBA player has that 7" wingspan. Look at Carnera too.
Though Valuev was not long for his height-him too. Likely Ed "Too Tall: Jones...
There was a giant who boxed that there is a thread about on Ghosttown boxing.
Since you did not mention the level, if you look at exhibition matches there is Manuta Bol.
HE likely had the longest wingspan in boxing history-long even for being a real 7' 7".
He was listed at 8'6", which blows Wilder & his 6' 11" away.

No reputable source would assume 83" was second longest ever-the above were just what I could think of off the top of my head.
And the tallest guys are toughest to reach at the chin or above.
Did you just assume 83" was #2?

Though your point about being tough to reach is sound.
Yet some could do it, & I think Quarry has a chance given his siccess against big bombers.

I would say that Wilder should stay clear of Quarry, if he was still alive!

Deontay Wilder had the flu. That's why he weighed 214 against Ortiz. He was depleted. He normally weighs around 224. You likely won't see him under 220 ever again.

Also, Wilder fights nothing like Earnie Shavers or Mac Foster or Ron Lyle.

Jerry Quarry fought a relatively tall (6'3"), thin guy named Tony Alongi twice. He's the closest guy stylewise to Wilder that Quarry fought. Quarry couldn't beat him either time.

Wilder's four or five inches taller than Alongi (more than seven inches taller than Quarry) and punches 10 times harder than Alongi.

So, I'm guessing NO. Quarry wouldn't win.
