The best version of Johnson vs the best of Charles and Walcott? Who takes it?

    I like Charles. Too skilled.

Walcott vs Johnson? Depends. With modern rules and a modern ref, I like Walcott. With pre 1920 rules and refs, I like Johnson.

Johnson wasn't used to throwing a lot of punches so Walcott would take a decision. Charles beats Johnson too.

    Johnson imo.Entertaining fights.
Marciano stopped Walcott with a right uppercut.
    Johnson's best punch.

Walcott wasn't exactly a volume puncher was he?

I wasn't saying Walcott would outwork Johnson but he's used to throwing more punches than Johnson did in his time. To beat Walcott you have to be active enough to catch him or outwork him (effective aggression). Otherwise he'd pick you apart. It's a styles thing. Johnson's slow paced defensive style of throwing 1 punch every 10 seconds and little to no combinations would be unsuccessful.

Johnson stops Walcott in 12 rounds. Charles is tougher for Jack but Johnson wins by close decision.

On both occasions, Johnson, who was a class above the other two, brings home the bacon.

Its certainly a possibility ,although Sam McVey came at him all night for 20rds, won nothing and was ko'd in the last round.Throwing a lot of punches is fine, but a good percentage of them have to be landing, nobody regularly landed on a prime Jack.

The punch looked more like an overhand right to me.

Sam MvVey was also 19 years old in that fight and wasn't a very refined fighter. Rather wild imo based upon the battling jim johnson footage.
