Interesting. I never read that Machen claimed it happened nor do I see him reacting so during the bout but who knows ? Liston was with nasty folks and the game as a whole is filled with many unethical characters so it is possible .. still, I'd tend to give it more legitimacy if I saw any indiction from him that his eyes were hurt .. I"ll get around to rewatching the fight tape .. that being said to me he fought a smart survival type fight and Sonny clearly not only won but showed he had the stamina to go 12 pretty easily for a big guy ..

I've just come back from Palermo,I was in Venice in November,Bergamo two months prior to that ,and I'm going to Havana on April the 3rd ,Nice south of France later in the year, Thailand in September,and Lisbon in November. Went to the theatre Friday and going again Thursday,[ Julius Caesar at the Bridge Theatre,]I was at a Jazz gig with mates Sunday lunchtime . Yes I wish I had a real life,one as exciting and varied as yours!
