It makes a lot of difference to other promoters/fighters/venues/TV companies who do their due diligence. Yes he's got BT behind him for now as a broadcaster, but he is still struggling to attract top talent and top fights. TBA is his most active fighter, as you say. Frank is an amateur in comparison to a professional outfit like Matchroom.
I’d genuinely forgot he even had Davies! Never mind was on this card. That interview should be bigging up Flanagan who’s in a world title fight - doesn’t get a mention. Dubois and Yarde don’t get a mention, the Williams - Clarke fight doesn’t. 3 weeks out from his big card and he’s talking sh!te about Hearn, AJ and stubhub instead of drumming up publicity for his own fighters and his own card.
No they don't. Stub Hub sells tickets at face value. The resale tickets are sold by people who buy tickets at face value. That's not Matchroom and they don't profit from those resellers. As Hearn has pointed out before if they wanted to make more money from tickets they could just raise the prices.
Great post m8, summed up perfectly. All his attention and energy is used in the wring way. As you say you should be promoting his fighters and bills as aftervsll he is a boxing promoter ! Instead he is coming away as bitter and twisted and if I was one of his fighters i would be annoyed he is promoting Eddie Hearn and Matchroom instead of me (and that's what he is doing inedvertedly as he is their main competition and he is coming across poorly and unprofessionally, making them look better).
Frank does have a point about the new tickets being released for Joshua - Parker. If they were sold out the first day how have they released a new batch of 40-60 quid tickets? Its something Eddie Hearn has to answer.
they hold back tickets, it was sold-out, but it was the tickets they originally put up that were sold out
Hand on heart I can sit through a Warren interview and not get bored. Hearn I get bored after 10 minutes. Don't ask me why, I just like Uncle Frank.
P I Dont understand this whole Stub Hub thing. Why does Matchroom rely on Stub Hub to sell Tickets, why cant Matchroom just sell Tickets to their OWN SHOWS by themself.Surely they would make more money by not having to give Stubhub a share of the profits
They would yeah but do you think Frank Warren has the capabilities to sell 70,000 tickets in 5 minutes? If Dubois became a superstar and was selling out Wembley in the speed AJ does then Frank would have to outsource. You need massive servers, tried and tested. Stubhub, ticketmaster do this on a daily basis. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it as long as you’re not putting tickets up for resale prices.
That’s not really 100% true though. BT seem happy and some of his shows like Degale - Truax apparently delivered big ratings. They also seem keen to invest in Yarde with adverts press and adverts during champions league matches etc. Frank is still by far and away the second biggest promoter in the Uk and up to the end of 2017 was fast closing the gap on Hearn. Eddie to his credit has put the pedal down with some great shows booked but I think frank will have a better secound half of the year if things go correct for him. He has also been doing great business with Goldenboy and other international promoters In recent times. He’s managed to beat Hearn to sign Frampton, and is about to have his 2nd sold out show in a row with him. If Carl wins and all goes well with no injuries etc he will be delivering Windsor Park this summer as he promised. He’s managed to sign Warrington from Eddie, and also managed to get Selby fighting regularly and with a solid plan In place which Hearn failed to do. As a result Selby-Warrington is looking likely to do around 25k at Elland Road- a fight Eddie wanted but couldn’t deliver. It seems he’s in pole position to sign Fury - another guy Hearn wanted. Saunders will probably be in a major fight this summer. A Flanagan win will set up some decent domestic clashes with Catteral or Davies. He’s got exciting youngsters In Garland, Woodstock etc. As I said before, it’s the London shows where frank is not making the best of what he has In terms of hype and ticket sales etc - that’s where Eddie and his team are on a different level.
Because they don't have the systems/infrastucture to deal with it. Imagine the computing power to deal with thousands of people trying to buy tickets at once. That's why they outsource it.
