And we probably never will know for sure, thats often the nature of these things unfortunately. But, you have no excuse for having a banned substance in your system. You, the professional athlete have to take responsibility for that. You have to be punished either way, if you knowingly took it or inadvertently took it, you still took it. If this substance is "common" in mexican meat or "known" to occur in mexican meat, then you, the professional athlete should know that if you eat this meat you may test positive, so you should realise not to eat this meat. If you still decide to eat this meat and test positive then its your problem and you have to face the consequences.

Anything is possible, I don't dispute that what you're saying is a distinct possibility. Another distinct possibility is that he ate contaminated meat from Mexico. Since I don't know which one it is, I am not claiming it is one or the other.

It could indicate that he was aware of clenbuterol being an issue in meat from Mexico, from prior research and experience with athletes testing positive for it, knowing what the ranges were. I can't tell if you're reading too much into him making that statement or if you may be on to something. As a fan, I just want to be excited about the rematch and know that both fighters are clean going into the fight. I don't have any reason to question the lab director's motives in stating that the trace amounts was consistent with eating contaminated meat. But then again I'm willing to consider your cynicism as well.

Just because meat in Mexico is known to have amongst other things Clenbuterol does not make it OK. In fact it makes it far worse ,far worse again that the trainer is a meat wholesaler...Jeez for gods sake.
Also I see your saying but ..but ...but VADA is voluntary...when Browne tested postive for Clenbuterol he had a ban handed him, he did not voluntarily stop fighting.
Do you understand the ethics (I know saying this to Isal & shadow Lol) of Sport? The men are equal as possible & may the best man win...you are a sad & sorry case for the other ....Oh & please no War & peace size replies Shadowy one, its wrong, Canelo was caught ,he should be banned...Obviously Isal desperately wants this to happen as he knows Alvarez is getting Dusted ,drugged up, Fitted up officials or not this time there will be NO DOUBT!!!
Isal is a creme puff just like Canelo.

You've clearly fully accepted the tainted meat story. and seem to be defending it ad nauseam.

The testing labs don't just toss out what they think it might be and make a ruling on it. There is no reason to question the labs motives here. They did their part in the test, and that's testing the samples. Now, their part is NOT to provide an answer as to how something got there, as they are not the investigation group, nor can they toss out mere possibilities as likely outcomes.

Again, if the director says it's consistent w/ tainted beef, then he was asked specifically about that likelihood prior to releasing his statement on the beef. They cannot offer solutions (possible excuses) out of the blue.

I don't know, and neither do you. What we do know is that he tested negative for all his tests, including the ones right before testing positive and the ones after. I base everything on facts if facts are available.

    Facts:
-Canelo tested positive on Feb. 17th and Feb. 20th
-Canelo tested negative for ALL tests administered prior to Feb. 17th
-Canelo has tested negative for ALL tests after Feb. 20th
-SMRTL lab director stated findings were trace amounts consistent with consuming tainted meat
    -SMRTL is accredited by WADA
-VADA contracted SMRTL to administer the tests

So you think Canelo paid off SMRTL, which is held accountable to VADA, and WADA? I doubt three ADAgencies would risk their long established reputation for a single event for a single fighter.

How much of an advantage do you think tainted meat gave Canelo?
The fight can be postponed to September if its really an issue... But it clearly isn't.

Since you claim I'm naive, would you be so kind to explain how Canelo will benefit from clenbeturol 2 months before the fight?

    Guaranteed.

If Canelo wins, you can expect the Canelo fans to celebrate for a short bit with minimal to no trolling at all.

You'll have no time to celebrate, Canelo Fanboys like you will spend the vast majority of their time trying to get Canelo some credit for a win that is tainted, stained and tarnished.

It would be a worthless win now, the majority of the boxing world, fighters, promoter, fans will question the whole situation.

So it will be a very hollow "win" and as a boxing fan that even makes me sad.

It's really not consistent with other contaminated meat cases, stating that over and over again doesn't make it any more true.
Check this case (use google translate):
    http://www.tischtennis.de/news/dttb...n-ovtcharov-ein-suspendierung-aufgehoben.html

This guy could actually prove it was contaminated meat and his result came back at 1/10 the amount found in Canelos test. And he got tested within 12 hours of ingesting the meat.
Canelos second test would fit the term trace amount, but not his first.

Are you an expert and know absolutely what you're talking about and all the circumstances surrounding every case?

VADA, WADA, and SMRTL have a lot to lose, I'm incline to trust three agencies over emotional fans.
