It is common practice for weight division fighters to get dehydrated just before the weigh in, which occurs 24 hours or more before the fight. Then they quickly rehydrate themselves in the interval. Someone who weighs in at 145 while dehydrated could easily get back up into the 150s with rehydration. Anyone who doesn’t do that puts himself at a disadvantage and ends up having to go against bigger opponents in heavier divisions.
So IMO he told a half truth: he wasn’t dehydrated during the fight because he rehydrated himself after the weigh in, but he probably was dehydrated for the weigh in.

Fighters then did not dehydrate then like they do today they had same day weigh ins however being dehydrated for the weigh in by not drinking water the night before was not abnormal just to make sure you make weight...without access to the commissions scales causes this because there could be a few lb difference....today with weigh ins the day before fighters can easily rehydrate 15-20 lbs by fight time.

I am a Hearns fan but Davey Pearl did him a favor. Had he taken more punishment it could have affected his long career after ,which meant superfights with Benitez,Duran, Hagler and Leonard and many more titles.. Sometimes I hear he says he could have continued, well he was being hit clean. It would have been unnecessary punishment and the same result. He could not have lasted to the end of the fight at that point.

Blimey, you've been banging this drum for ten years? That is some dedication to a (wrong) issue you've got there.
