What I was interested in was if theres a level above which the meat excuse wont wash. I certainly thought that was obvious.

You're one to speak about standards, for you to be so threatened by what I have provided is telling. You'd like to just ignore facts that don't fit your agenda wouldn't you? If you have such an issue with the WADA statement I linked and how they handle clenbuterol cases, then take your issue with them. I'm just reporting what they have provided. Coming at me in such an amateurish cringey way makes you look bad.

One could use the tainted meat with very low level like with Clenelo's second failed test of around 60-80 picograms -ish. However a couple things come into play, like did the athlete have any control in the situation. This brings into context the Bejing example where athletes were forced to eat in Bejing which is out of their control.

In the case of Alberto Contador, he had 50 picograms and he also claimed tainted meat. He however was a Spaniard in Spain eating Spanish meat. Contador is a two time TDF champ and should have known better. They threw the book at Contador, two year ban, stripped of his TDF win.

Canelo had two samples, one in the 600-800 picogram range and the later in the 60 picogram range. He has no hope of arguing meat taint. He's a Mexican in Mexico eating Mexican meat and he should have one known better but two, his first sample is so far off the scale it's kind of insulting to the aware to even claim tainted meat.

    Know what I mean?

I haven't denied that was a part of the statement.

As it relates to the IOC’s Re-Analysis Program for Beijing, it was determined that, eight years later, athletes could not reasonably be expected to recall where and what they ate, which may have led to their consuming the substance.

I'm concerned with the other parts of the statement where they discuss how they handle clenbuterol cases in part as a result of that.

The statement makes it clear that they are aware of the clenbuterol issue generally and aren't only referring to what happened in the Beijing situation. Like take this statement :

Effectively, when the circumstances of a positive case indicate that the athlete has been in one of the identified countries where clenbuterol meat contamination is significant, the anti-doping community views it as unreasonable to put the burden of proof on the athlete, i.e. to prove that the meat, which he or she had consumed, was contaminated; in particular, eight years after the fact.

It says "in particular, eight years after the fact" that doesn't mean "only" when it's 8 years after the fact.

In the statement, the wording indicates that they aren't just referring to the past tense, as in what happened in Beijing. They are using words that indicate how they handle matters now, and how they are aware of the situation moving forward.

Also at the end of the article, it states :

As this is a very complex topic, which is subject to misinterpretation, the Agency wishes to clarify more facts as outlined below.

Outlined below there is a section dedicated to the Beijing situation, but before they discuss clenbuterol generally. Take note of this statement in particular :

It should be noted that athletes around the world are tested by WADA-accredited laboratories having very low level detection for clenbuterol. Cases are regularly reported and sanctioned when it is proven that the clenbuterol is of pharmacological origin. Hundreds of cases have been prosecuted since 2010.

So as you can see, that's not referring to the Beijing situation. They state explicitly that having been aware of the contaminated meat situation, they only sanction when it is proven to be pharmacological clenbuterol and not from contaminanted meat. Which is the entire point, that through all this research and these other cases, they have concluded and recognize that when it comes to cases clenbuterol in countries with contaminated meat (as opposed to other banned substances) the burden of proof is not on the athlete.

OK, so I understand your point but that is only a part of their statement. The part I have tried to bring to your attention is not specific to the Beijing situation but how they recognize how unsatisfactory the problem of clenbuterol contamination is generally and how they don't sanction athletes until they can prove that it was pharmocological clenbuterol.

Where can I find the official results of Canelo's test showing that one of his tests was in the range of 600-800 picograms? Have these results of 600-800 picograms been released officially?

I just want to confirm that that 600-800 number isn't just made up before I look into your point about the 600-800 picograms being too high.

I don't think we will ever find a concrete number for that because of how many factors go in with it. When exactly you came in contact with it, how much the meat had to begin with, how quickly your body releases the chemical, likely even the testing used.

Canelo's numbers were VERY high though. The highest I have ever seen from tainted meat. Tainted supplement (which may not even work for Clen; I'm not sure), sure. Tainted meat? Ehhhh

I am looking forward to further announcements on Clenelol.

The discrepancy between the two samples is wide as well.

What can VADA do? All they are is a testing body they have no power to suspend athletes from any sports that's the role of whatever sanctioning body or athletic commission is governing that sport.

Don't mistake VADA with organisations like UKAD. UKAD is more than just a testing body they have the authority to ban athletes in the UK while VADA have no such remit in the US. It's one of the reasons why doping in US combat sports is a joke as the testing body has no authority to enforce their findings from any adverse tests. It's why there is no nation wide testing program, why bans are often shorter than other countries when a fighter fails a test and why Mayweather got away with his retroactive IV.

Yeah that was weird. Just looking at it NOTHING to me indicates that this came from tainted meat.

I know they can't ban him, but they do (I could very well be wrong about this as I haven't researched this myself) have the authority to test other people around Canelo. Most people in the same camp eat together. If they all have clen in their body then it helps Canelo's case. If not then it only raises further suspicion. I seem to recall this being done before.
