All the HWs in the 80s were on roids and testing only properely came in during the early to mid 90s. Tommy Morrison has told stories about how the roid use was open and seen as part & parcel back then. You had to hide it after that more or pay people to not leak hot Of course Mike was on the roids, definitely on them after he came out of prison when he needed extra advantages.
Do you talk about anabol steroids and/or fat burner also? Didn´t he balloon up in weight without training?
The first notable positive test in boxing was Botha in 1995. Testing was still minimal, and that was in Germany. Many jurisdictions weren't testing at all in the 90's, and I'm not just talking about the backwoods bingo hall circuit. The first boxer Nevada ever caught was Vargas in 2002 prior to the De la Hoya fight. I point this out because boxing's stance on them has always been even weaker than people expect, and that's saying something
More likely he was on them in prison. His physique was far more ripped post prison a sign of constant lifting of weights in prison where steroids were probably freely used.
so why didnt we get heaps of boxers getting HIV? na, something tells me tommy got it because he was filthy bastiche.
yeh which is probably wherre he lost a lot of his speed, fitness and manueverability. Packing on even more muscle ruined his skills.
NO that does not prove he used steroids! It is not even showing it is likely. He COULD have, but "evidence" like him looking ripped post prison is poor. Another guy said he "looked ripped". But his weight & visible body fat was in the same small range it was for years. He regained the weight he lost in prison-muscle memory allows that. Now as for gaining nearly 15 lbs. in 8 months, two things. 1) He was 17 then turned 18, training heavily. It is basic that guys fill out ~ 17-21. Also, when he fought at the precise Louis vs. Schmelling 1 weight...Did you cheeck to see if he lost any weight to MAKE 91 KG? You must know that guys commonly dehydrate to do so, more so when day before weigh ins, where it can be near or over 10%. Even if it was just 5%, that would account for most all of the weight gain. Tyson has been accused of many things, guilty of much. I would think with all his loose-lipped associates, if he used PEDs damning details would have come out. Now maybe he did use, at least later. But nothing presented on this thread shows it is LIKELY. Nor is it fair to conclude that he did.
Please say WHY. Folks have commented about him losing weight in prison, & looking so buff adterwards. See my last post-he only regained the weight he had lost. He wsas low body fat before, he did not look even leaner. So no added muscle, just recovering what he had lost when young-muscle memory does that fairly easily. Might have used, sure. Any good reason to say he likely did, that is not fair & rational.
And the weight gain he had when only 17-18 is nothing unusual. Especially if he had to trim down to make 91 KG. Look at Ali's weight gain from LHW amateur to his early pro years-it was more than Tyson by far, & he was older. Was Ali juicing? No, he was filling out & naturally gaining muscle from training, not even lifting.
All of them use PED's. Most people are not really knowledgeable about weight training and give these insane examples of guys they know as comparisons. I've heard people say they know a 17 year old teen who is 270 lbs ripped at six foot height. That's Mr. Olympia heavyweight tier lol. In reality there's not a single man alive who has Mike Tyson's physique naturally while having time to do other things in his life. To get to his level naturally you'd need to dedicate basically all your free time to bodybuilding. And about the fact that he was already massive when 13. He was probably blasting then already. Arnold for example started blasting at the age of 14-15, he used to train with a young doctor who administered him the drugs.
Welcome from the hinterlands man! So you decided to play nice with our Madman in Chief? It might work, just flatter the Narcissist in Chief & it could work out for World Peace. Though I hate that he might get any credit... Towards you post, I must respectfully disagree with most of it. You are CORRECT that 270 very low body fat at 6' does not happen naturally. Especially as a teen. But Tyson never remotely APPROACHED that level of muscle mass. He was under 6' & at best fairly cut-though not pro-body builder level shredded-at 215-220 lbs. His chest was listed like Holyfield's, 44" & 46" expanded. If he was 270 shredded, it would be not less than in the mid 50's! You saw the chart I posted re: natural body building potential, taking bone structure into account? Have any reason to doubt that? You do NOT need to spend many hours a day lifting to maximize natural potential. Relatively brief intense workouts are most efficient. Then getting enough calories, protein, rest, lifting scientifically...And not doing too much cardio, which tend sto limit bulk. Tyson was around the max. he could have developed-the question is could he have done it absent much lifting. Maybe-there have been many similar build men in farm work, factory work, longshoreman-you do heavy enough cpmpound movements WITH the right genes & enough food, you might end up a gorse-like Janitor showed with McVea. Tyson was poor at 13 & there is no known source that plausibly was giving him drugs before & by then. Anything is possible. It is just not likely, & no evidence to believe it. More likely post-prison-but even then he had about exactly the same weight, muscle & fat as in his 80''s prime. There are a small percentage of males who can get Tyson's size naturally. Foreman was huge early, I understand lighter/drained in some early pro fights. And he talks about being hungry when young. Just as some are bird-boned & have low androgen levels.
