Could Leonard have ambushed Monzon in his last fight ?

    "Duran I" was "nasty"; Monzon was even "nastier". .....taking bullets, jumping off balconies with a woman in his arms resulting in her demise, and cold bocking a sports writer or two. Not the type of guy a father lets his daughter go to the prom with.

    How about Monzon vs Duran? They were both in their prime in the early to mid 70s.

    I have never seen a fighter control the fight like Monzon did, he just did everything his way and if you started to become annoying you got knocked out.

    Monzon v Barkley would be nasty, I'm talking his last fight. It would have shades of Toney v Barkley ,with Carlos ripping into him till he's pulled out
    Hearns makes it interesting for a while ,with his whiplash jab .But Tommy gets tagged before ten rounds are up ,and brutally KO'd .This isn't prime Carlos, it's the back end one.

    Monzon would beat Duran, by Dec.

    Barkley, what a great fight for 7-8 rounds. Monzon KO

    Hearns would look great, But Monzon finds a way, KO in 10.

    Matt, I don't think Monzon would have iced him like Hearns did...Hearns was a special puncher, but it would have been a brutal, unrelenting mismatch of it's own...similar to what Monzon inflicted on Napoles, with those unmerciful one-twos crashing home...and rough physical stuff...more unhurried and methodical than what Hearns did to him. The ref would rescue a badly beaten Duran by round 8 or 9.
    Monzon would have eventually ko'ed Hearns...it would have resembled the ko of Mundine.
    Monzon was a level or two better than Barkley and would have punished and ko'ed him before round 10.

    Was Ray an ambush fighter? I don't think it works with Monzon.. I think Ray was lucky he knew Marvin and put thought into Marvin where he was nice and did all the right things and Marvin was rusty.

    Hagler fought a terrible fight against Leonard. He looked completely shot and he let Leonard completely get inside his head. Even still he lost a “debatable” 15 round SD.
    I don’t see Monzon having much problems with Leonard. He clearly wins.
