Are there any light heavies in history who potentially could've beaten Mike Tyson on June 27, 1988

Who, if any would've had the best chance at victory against Tyson on this night?

Its probably more a question of who could have given him a more competitive fight.

We´ve had this question before. Most talked about 175 Holyfield. The answer is no.

His first fight and his only fight at LHW, otherwise Holyfield was a cruiser

Holyfield never fought at 175 lb as a pro. He was like 177 or so in his first fight and moved up to 190

I will give you an odd pick.

I think that Jimmy Braddock would have done a lot better than Michael Spinks.

not many.. Too hard against a whirlwind like Tyson.. you needed power to keep him off and strength, and a guy from 175 with a young Tyson couldn't do it.

Tunney and Charles beat him, Moore could spring an upset. Conn would have a great chance. If Greb can fight him in Greb's era, Greb's dirtywork would drive Tyson to do something stupid or so mad he telegraphs and swings wildly.

Spinks was so petrified and frozen from fear, anybody does better. That terrified, you're going down from a tap. Like a deer caught in the headlights or the seven caught in the deadlights. Because of Spinks terror, Tyson really proved nothing that night except he was an intimidator of fighters named Michael Spinks. Much how Tyson himself would have been against old FOREMAN.

The only man that could consistently beat Tyson would be prime Goerge foreman. That's right I said the only.

I agree with janitor Braddock would put up more a fight than spinks, hed lose but had a iron chin, good counter punching skills and more importantly he wasn't capable of being intimidated. I say he lasts atleast 2 or 3 rounds lol.

You mean a guy who campaigned at LHW, but then we are gonna take a later version of him when he was any weight we think was best against Tyson?
Like Spinks was 212 that night?

Unless you go with an amateur LHW, Ali who won the old in Rome, then match him when he was Spinks weight-nobody is likely to beat peak Tyson.

    Solid.

I would put Fitzsimmons, Delaney and O'Brien in there, too. And give Jack Root a 50/50 chance.
