Got to give Whyte credit as he did what he needed to do.

Browne was terrible though. He was ridiculously slow and out of shape

I’ve just rewatched it and I think I done Whyte a disservice with my immediate post fight remarks (discussing how bad Browne was). It was still a very good clinical performance against a former world champion. I’ve just said on the general forum that a younger fresher Ortiz takes Wilder out. Dillian could be that guy.

I wouldn't walk it back too far. Whyte did look good but Browne appeared completely gone as a fighter. To the point that it looked as though someone's lairy uncle had been collared in from the crowd to fight the pro boxer. His reaction time was that bad.

Browne's never been a smooth operator but that was horrific. He made Whyte look like a prime Holmes.

I've warmed to Whyte as a personality over the past few years so this isn't coming from a place of malice. I really hope it's a case of Whyte just getting better and not Browne fading away, but on a scale it looked to be tipping heavily to the latter for me.

Whyte could cause Wilder problems regardless, lesser fighters have done in the past. Winning on top of causing him problems would be the tricky part.

Was at the fight last night and just watched it back on tv, best I’ve seen Dillian, very composed, lovely jab, defence was solid and brutal stoppage! Posted before that Browne’s age and inactivity would be a factor and Dillian would get a late stoppage , and for people now saying that wasn’t the Lucas Browne who fought chagaev, he was just as bad that night as he was last night! Rewatch the Chagaev fight, his Face was a bloody mess, and lost every round up until he landed a big right and stopped him. Chagaev was in terrible shape himself and was way past his best, otherwise Browne would have been dealt with in the same way he was last night.
Outside the top 4 Dillian is the best heavyweight out there and deserves credit for the way he’s come in since the AJ loss, by no means am I saying he beats any of them but he will give any of the top 4 problems.

Dillan is a character and comes over as a decent guy , he did what he needed to do against Browne . I see too many flaws in his style for me to believe he can beat Joshua , Wilder , Parker , Ortiz or Fury.
Personally I would not pick him to beat Breazeale , Miller ,Pulev or Povetkin

The manner of the stoppage was probably in part due to Browne being blind in one eye but agree the dude was not at the races at all. He made Helenius look good which is saying something given how shot that guy is.

Browne might've lost the majority of rounds before the stoppage but he certainly wasn't the aimless specimen who looked as though he was fighting in mud last night. He was landing plenty of heavy leather on Chagaev on top of taking it in return. Browne also cuts up a lot so this picture of Chagaev beating him senseless and bloody for 10 rounds straight before a hail mary was produced, isn't really accurate.

I do agree that a prime Chagaev would've beaten Browne, handily.

Whyte's jab was better than I've ever seen it but it's hard to gauge the level of improvement against a man who visually looked completely done as a fighter at this level. His reflexes were literally a second or two behind Whyte's movement. He should never have been in the same ring as him and that isn't purely because of the difference in levels.

I thought Browne looked way too heavy, and he was very very slow. That was only half his problem though. His judgement of range was dreadful. He would throw cumbersome shots that were easy to telegraph, miss or fall short and left himself completely open for Whyte to pick him off. When he turned southpaw it just looked amateurish and he abandoned it quickly.

This was a cracking piece of matchmaking by Hearn. I thought they were on similar levels but I was completely wrong. Browne was a walking punchbag and made Whyte look fantastic. The knockout was a reflection of his poor conditioning.

Just to add, despite Whyte’s quality performance with the jab and shot selection, he naively found himself in the corner and ropes a couple of times particularly in round 3 which I felt was poor ring IQ. He was very lucky that Browne couldn’t take advantage and throw more than one shot. Someone like AJ would have pummelled him.

Whyte looked improved to some degree, his body work in particular looked more sharp. But **** me, Browne looked totally shot to pieces.

This was the worst possible outcome. Whyte winning like that only gives Hearn reason to postpone AJ-Wilder even more.

Also I refuse to get behind Whyte until he cuts out that cringe worthy howling

well, didnt expect that. whyte looked pretty good to be fair, never thought id say that.

browne was beyond horrible, lumbering forward and taking a good hiding. that is pretty much what he always does, except usually he actually throws something back and enjoys the tear up.

so, the question is, has whyte started to apply himself a bit, or is browne just completely gone. i suspect a bit of both and what whyte does next will show us if he finally taking the sport a bit more seriously, because as well as he dealt with him, browne really didnt seem to have much to give at all.

Browne was too far out of shape to take any real positives out of it for whyte. Was staggering about from early on. Balance was terrible due to carrying too much weight. Positive weekend for whyte but they can all look great against someone that came in in Browne's shape.

Fair play to Browne tho came in in bad shape for whatever reason...that was on him but at least gave it what he had...tried to stay in their and get a result with his pretty heavy right hand...but no sure I would have let my fighter fight at that level seeing the sort of shape he was in down the gym.

That's when you end up getting knocked out badly like Saturday night. Hard call because Browne,s always really been that heavy punch but absolutely everything else was lacking on Saturday night. We know he,s not the greatest boxer...but he was in no condition to be fighting at that level.

Fair play to whyte good result...done what he had to do. No sure I,d look too much into it tho. As they keep saying theres levels to this. He suddenly won't look quite as good when he's fighting at his level. Browne was way below the level on Saturday night.

I like white tho...comes to fight believes in himself and never really intimidated by anyone. Bit of chisora about him in that regard. But more consistent with that side of things than him.

Whyte gave Wilder nightmares, Wilder has already turned down $4,000,000 to fight Whyte, but after that knockout Wilder will not come near him. Whyte is Wilder's mandatory, so Wilder will have to depend on Haymon buying his way out of that fight, but Wilder was afraid to fight Joshua, so Parker will fight Joshua, Parker has the balls, Wilder has none!

I’d back wilder to beat him, still think Whyte is a bit chinny and not the hardest to hit...but it’s a fight I’d relish...get it made!

I agree with you mate. It’s about levels and his fight with Chisora showed us exactly where he’s at imo. Fringe world level. I still don’t think Chisora is completely finished. I think if there’s a lot of build up and ‘beef’ he’ll definitely bring it. You don’t know which version of him turns up...the motivated in-shape version or the useless pudding version, but Whyte wants none of that again and who can blame him.

Whyte is a great addition to the heavyweight scene though. He comes to fight every time. He’s hungry. At the moment though, I think Joshua would spark him out. Tyson would outbox him. Hughie would drive him nuts. I think Joyce could outbox him too. Chisora would be another war, and that’s the British lads. Boxers from overseas such as Ortiz comfortably beats him up, Wilder sparks him, Miller would be solid for him. Povetkin beats him. Pulev possibly. Parker would be a good fight....my point is, let’s enjoy him for what he brings to the table but let’s not get too giddy.
