A pretty loaded division for its relatively short existence. Give me your Top Ten! A lot of entertaining and very skilled fighters to discuss.
Chong-Pal Park is the Korean body snatcher, have to always give a shout out to probably my favorite 168 pounder of all time and one of the divisions original champions. Terrible, devastating body puncher who was built like a friggin' tank.
Not sure I'd have Collins above Eubank or Benn .I know he beat both but that s a few years after their prime. And I also see Calzaghe besting Steve on points.
1. Harry Greb 2. Bob Fitzsimmons 3. Joe Choynski 4. Ray Robinson 5. Sam Langford 6. Stanley Ketchel 7. Roy Jones Jr 8. Mickey Walker 9. Ezzard Charles 10. Billy Conn
1. Calzaghe 2. Ward 3. Eubank 4. Benn 5. Jones Jr 6. Collins 7. Park 8. Froch 9. Kessler 10. Toney 11. Otke Very subjective here as you have a few fighters that have better body's of work at other weights. I tried to base this just on what they've done at super middleweight. I would have to go back and refresh my memory with a few of these fighters records to be fully satisfied
Ward and Toney would have boxed Eubank`s ears off, they would have countered him everytime he missed with that wild right hand he used to throw!
Name me one thing these guys could do that Ward coudn`t! Say what would have done against Kessler that Ward didn`t, the skills Ward used in schooling an ageing Kessler was stuff none of these guys displayed though Toney was better than the rest of year list defensively and Jones is the fastest fighter of all time.
Froch >> Kessler The Cobra's best wins - - - - - - Kesslers best wins George Groves This content is protected Marcus Beyer Lucian Bute This content is protected Many Siaca Jermain Taylor This content is protected Antony Mundine King Abraham This content is protected Libarado Andrande John Pascal This content is protected Allen Green Andy Dirrell This content is protected Brian Magoo Glen Johnson This content is protected Medhi Bouda They both have wins over each other. The first fight was very close but the superior fighter usually wins more clearly in the rematch and that was Froch. You can clearly see Froch has a much deeper resume than Kessler so Ward has the better single win than Calzaghe in Froch imo.. Calzaghe's best win at 168 is Wards second best win and Ward beat Kessler in far more lop sided fashion than Calzaghe did. The question is do you rate Joe higher than Ward because he has more defenses of a belt even if a lot of those defenses were against taxi drivers.
I really like this list in general, but don't you think a prime SMW Jones could do the guys above him?
