How's Benn do in this situation against Leonard of the Hagler ft?
Benn at middle was ferocious ,could his pure aggression defeat sugar?
Leonard beat a ageing Marvin ,no doubt s ,how's he cope with a raw, punching machine coming at him ?

lol. I remember watching Benn on tv after he'd just destroyed someone, and I recall him angling for a fight with SRL. I think he said something like "Make my day, Sugar Ray".

very hard fight for Ray in 1990.. I think Benn could win, but Ray was slippery and would wait for Benn to make a mistake. I pick Benn

It comes down to which Benn and which Leonard?

Benn pre 90 has little more than a puncher's chance against the Leonard who beat Hagler. Even the more rounded Benn that emerged post-Watson would struggle against the 87 Leonard, who was still a class act. Benn struggled with movement, and Leonard would come in with the right gameplan and box his way to a decision.

Leonard seemed to slip markedly by 89, and if the fight had materialised in reality in late 1990 I don't think Leonard could keep Benn off for 12 rounds. Too young, strong and relentless. Leonard's previously solid chin also started to betray him at this point, and Benn may even have forced a stoppage.

Right about it being which Benn /sugar.If the post Watson Benn meets sugar of 88 onwards then that's Nigel's Best shot. By then Leonard was slipping so Benn s going to be right in his face .It may even be a wild card cut's stoppage for Nigel ,as Duran did to him .It's going to take Leonard a lot of his steel to survive a young Benn .

Actually there’s plenty of doubts on that one

I like Benn's furious style and he certainly had the power to knock out Sugar Ray. I just can't see him beating Leonard, though. Benn, Eubank and Watson were great fighters - certainly some of the best that Europe ever produced - but they weren't quite up there with Leonard, Hagler and Hearns.

A dangerous fight for Leonard, but I think he still wins. Both Watson and Eubank beat Benn - I don't see an argument that SRL could not have.

I may have worded that wrong. I didn't mean there were no doubts regarding Sugars winning. But no doubts the Marvin he was facing wasn't in prime.
A prime Hagler Rip's him to shreds.

I think this has the potential to be a Camacho style loss for Leonard only a lot more painful and brutal.

I'll settle this. First of all, Leonard isnt schooling Benn becuz Benn isnt going to give him the chance to box and forces him out of his usual confortable pace. Benn's aggressiveness, power, the main factor as Benn moves in a lot faster and hits a heckuva lot harder than a washed up hagler

This is not rays kind of fight

Benn by knockout no later than 8
