    Jack Johnson ? Robinson ?
    Archie Moore ?
Did any of these or any other fighter influence Ali coming up ?
He was friends with Robinson ,was under Moore for a short while and he mentioned Jack Johnson several times. Did these fellas or anyone else give Muhammad ideas or style s that he took in to the Ring ?

Makes you wonder if there'd being no Robinson ,how different Ali may have been .What ever he took from Robinson had never being seen in a heavyweight I would imagine .

Shades of Robinson, but stylewise I thought he drew heavily on Pastrano, Luis Rodriguez and Dupas and the bouncy, mobile, flurrying and jab-orientated aspects of their respective styles.

Yeah, everyone here knows that Robinson was so great that he must has had an influence on every fighter that ever existed ! Even those boxers who fought before Robinson was even born were influenced by him, he was that great!

Yeah not saying that Robinson is overrated on this board but there's nothing he can't do.

Was a training partner of his that greatly influenced his style. A Spanish fighter I think, can’t remember his name though.

Archie Moore briefly trained Ali when he turned pro. Moore wanted Ali to be more of a puncher than a boxer, but even then Ali wanted to be a heavyweight Robinson. Ali also didn't like having to wash dishes in Moore's camp, especially having won a Gold Medal in the Olympics, and Moore said that he was a spoiled brat that needed a spanking. Of course they fought a couple years later, and Moore never got to give that spanking lol.

Is it the Ali Shuffle ot the Walcott Shuffle? Ali invented them shoulder rolls?

Is it Rope-a-Dope or Roland LaStarza's basic defense?

Ali invented the phantom? Then why does Rock throw a phantom overhead?

He was inspired, like any little boy, by watching the generation that came before him.

I know he greatly admired Jersey Joe ,perhaps he did take a few move's off him .I'm actually of the opinion that a prime, fully fit Jersey Joe would give Ali one of his toughest fight s .

And the thing is with Moore and Ali is they were to much alike. Both men had big egos. Any partnership between those two would always end In argument s .
