I'm very skeptical in believing the fight with Canelo is truly "off." There's way too much money that'll be lost both with the fighter's and their teams as well as the city of Las Vegas. I did notice though that aside from HBO ceasing any marketing for their fight, ticket purchases are being refunded now as well.

In the event it doesn't go through, Gennady has to be pragmatic here and avoid fighting on that date. Rather, he should have Loeffler open up discussions with FW on a unification showdown with BJS for sometime in mid-late June (assuming Saunders is ready by than.)

What other fight at MW is worth his time if he ends up losing his biggest payday by not fighting Canelo? BJS is the only other champion at 160 lbs and he's a very lively opponent. Gennady is in his mid 30's already and has shown signs of slowing down, his best shot at unifying the division is now.

If he is adamant about fighting on May 5, I'd love to see him take on Jermall Charlo (#1 ranked by the WBC at 160,) or a rematch with Danny Jacobs.

There was some reaction on another site that thought Derevyanchenko was the same guy as Lomachenko, and started a smal rant about him being so overrated that they were giving him a shot at middleweight

I would really be disappointed if it actually was O'Sullivan. Nice for him to get a shot at the champ, but he would be at least a level below the other options, and probably take a terrible beating before getting stopped. Too tough for his own good.

We would get a nice highlight reel KO though, if nothing else.

Canelos tainted meat excuse is a worse excuse than a young wayward female telling her parents she tripped & slipped onto an erect *****! Cinnamon been slurping that Jon Jones semen out of Lance Armstrong's sample bottle!

Spike o Sullivan might well be GGG's opponent. He's fairly solid, and has a decent record. Also, he'll probably be tailor made for GGG. Further, he fought both Eubank and Saunders, both potential future Golovkin opponents. Abel might want to see how he matches up and use him as a barometer. Quite a step down from Canelo though.

That guy is quite a troll/baiter, so I'm not sure he was serious.

But, by the way, calling Lomachenko or Derevyanchenko just "Chenko" (some people do) is like calling, for example, a Mexican guy "Rez" (if he's Ramirez, Alvarez, etc.). There are millions of "Rez-s" in that region and there are millions of "Chenko-s" in Ukraine. :)

Really!! Terrible stand in. At least get a non journeyman.

Dchenko is mandatory. Give him his shot! Win or lose he's a worthy challenger & not a cheating punk!

Spike is a bit better than a journeyman. That said, Derevyanchenko makes a lot more sense.
