Canelo popped for Clenbuterol

Palms need greasing before some awful beef story gets everybodys thumbs up.

 

I guess this makes it even more likely that the fight gets cancelled. No doubt even GBP would prefer to do it in September due to the uncertainty and lack of promotion which must ruin sales for May.

 

I had the same reaction. My thing is, if they're gonna suspend him, it's in everyone's interest to do it sooner rather than later. If his investigation is over now, as he claims, why wait 3 more weeks? If Golovkin has any chance of finding another opponent for May 5th, for example, he'd want a decision on the Canelo situation ASAP.

Pushing the hearing back indicates to me that it probably won't get cancelled, maybe there'll just be a fine or something, because if they were going to cancel it, they'd want to do that sooner rather than later.

If they were going to cancel it though, wouldn't they have the hearing like next week or something? By pushing back the hearing farther out, they are putting more pressure on themselves to not cancel it, since it's still scheduled. I just don't see why you need to wait 3 weeks to make a decision if you already have completed the investigation. Also Bennett's statement today suggests that the disciplinary hearing was originally scheduled for tomorrow not April 10th lol.

A fan (apparently) of boxing, on a boxing forum, stating they're not bothered if a big fight gets made! Not only a big fight but, a big rematch that should resolve unfinished business.

I agree about harsher penalties on peds but there isn't so it's null and void. A boxing fan NOT wanting a big fight to happen should come with penalties too.

I'll leave this up for a while but tonight or tomorrow I'm going to roll it up with the main "Canelo popped for Clenbuterol" thread so it doesn't become an overblown distraction and ground zero for the camps to flame war each other. There's only so much legitimate discourse that can be had on each little tidbit of news that comes out; each piece doesn't really deserve its own standalone thread.

 

I get your point, however even though the fight is still officially scheduled the people that matter are acting like the fight is cancelled - refunds offered, no promotion, etc.

It's a very confusing situation nonetheless. My thinking was that if they still want to make Canelo-GGG II a financial success they need to clear up the investigation ASAP so that promotion can continue.

I also have no idea why this keeps being delayed.
