The cyclists were self-experimenting with a new drug whose effects and dosages weren’t yet fully understood. I thought you said there were 10 dead cyclists in 2004 alone that were drug related. Since EPO was introduced hundreds of athletes have taken it with no (yet).
My understanding was that Pantani was always a troubled soul. The fact that he was kicked out of the Tour in order to make room for another doper who was designated the savior of cycling did break him but he was troubled to begin with. Do you think the US Postal team has any regrets with their doping- other than being caught?

I think this really illustrates a point -we are all natural born cheaters, even if it’s just sibling/friendly rivalry. So how can we amplify the stakes by millions of dollars, fame and adulation and be outraged that athletes are cheating?

Say they thought they couldn't beat GGG. Does a drugs suspension mean Golovkin isn't entitled to any money?

I see a couple of possible situations that seem to fit most facts.

    1) He is quite noticeably a PED user. He or his team got lazy, over confident or sloppy.

    2) His team or handlers or him (unlikely) were not confident in a win and decided a loss or KO loss would harm the brand more than a drugs scandal. Wait till GGG is out of the picture completely come back and feast on selected opponents again.

Don't think there are any other ways to look at it. He should be banned. So that's that for me. Draw a line under it and hope to see GGG fight Saunders.

There's a big difference between cheating in sports for personal gain and some musician choosing to snort away some of their fortune.

I'm not going to judge musicians for taking illicit drugs for recreational purposes they are not deceiving anyone here, if anything drug use is often celebrated by artists like Snoop Dogg. Same with pro body builders, power lifters who compete in non tested federations or the avid gym goer who takes steroids to look better. There is no deceit going on here.

Athletes doping in sports are cheating themselves, the viewing public and the sport they participate in. They are lying to gain an advantage and breaking clear rules for personal gain. Why would I condone cheating? What kind of example does that set?

Sport is an entertainment industry no doubt but does someone doping make a sport more entertaining? Obviously not, it's the competition that makes a sport entertaining and if that sport is falling foul of doping issues it taints the sporting experience.

Most athletes have access to similar training facilities, have similar dedication and similar skills. Yet across the board in most sports we have certain athletes achieving up to 15% increase in output. Cyclists like Wiggins and Froome. Mo Farah. Usain bolt to name a few. This sort of increase in output when the input variables are so similar leads me to conclude that it has to do with the drug intake that causes such a swing in outcome. Most gym goers know drugs cycles so it's safe to assume pro athletes and teams do. Since Usain Bolt got his first record the people in the same race behind him have all been busted. There is something else at play here about why and how people get busted. Maybe if makes it easier for them to manufacture superstars that the media can control or rely on to relay a certain message. Maybe it's how TPTB control sport so exactly. For me there is a possibility that every result in recent sporting history could be doubted for one reason or other. The fact that so many cultures have used sport as a distraction for the masses make this seem all the more likely they would like to fix it in their favour. Look at the Fussion drugs scandal as propaganda and all of sudden it makes sense on the world stage. Sports, money and politics have always been intertwined. I think the drugs may be a controlling agent as it were. Along with many other factors. It's hard to bring morals into such a complex argument when we know so little about what happens behind the scenes. We as fans always get the media story. The media faces etc. Anyway enough philosophising. There should be a more pragmatic and logical approach to fandom but we would probably see the end sport as we know it!

Even if the fight gets cancelled Team GGG should get some sort of financial compensation and on the other hand penalized/fine Team ClenbuteNelo.

Well, yeah to a point. Kids tend to bend or break the rules more because they haven't yet learned that cheating is wrong. And sometimes you learn by somebody else doing something to you first and you then realise "that's not cool".

Using peds I feel is a slippery slope to damnation. There's some mild stuff around and then these heavy duty industrial **** that makes you virtually unstoppable head to head but is going to cause long term damage to you. I mean, the clenbuterol that Canelo probably took is fairly innocuous compared to sending a boxer to the ring shot up with PCP or coke or meth. And why not? It makes a fighter much more resilient and infused with stamina.

Here's a story of the "official" use of drugs in war:

"It now seems clear that it was the use of drugs that allowed the group to repel a force many times their size for over two days with no food or sleep, even when some of them had life-threatening injuries."

    https://www.vice.com/sv/article/kwx...sed-in-pretty-much-every-war-ever-shooting-up

Good for winning a fight ... not so good for the long term health of a fighter.

This looks ridiculously unprofessional now - just like the rest of American politics.

People have paid BIG money to book hotel suites, flights, rentals etc. Casinos are expecting big big players in and throw big money down into the Vegas economy.

Make an example of Canelo AFTER the fight; withhold a portion of his purse, suspend him for 1 year but its so inept to do it this close to the fight.

Make a decision and do it now.

The results came out WEEKS ago. They have had sufficient time to deal with it in a TIMELY manner. This looks like a kangaroo court dealing with things spontaneously.

There should be protocol for these things for when they happen.

Lmao. Just because tests come back positive, it doesn't mean you convict and sentence w/o any defense. Are you that illogical? ****, this is moronisy lol. In real sports defenses can take years in arbitration, smh.
