Surprised at how worked up some normally sane posters are getting on the forum tonight...
The fight was close and tactical. But the scorecards, while wide, were fair. Joshua was just picking up rounds by doing slightly more than Parker and also by bossing the ring. It didn’t take much extra. It wasn’t exciting, but it was effective. There’s no way of scoring for Parker that I can see.

I thought it was a solid, fundamental performance from Joshua. Showed good composure, and ring generalship, whilst also being economical and not gassing at all. His jab looked good for controlling at range (rather than being used more as a set up for the 2 like in the past), and he pretty much bossed the fight.

Parker did a great job of blunting Joshua’s offence, with his quick counters, fast jab, head movement and occasional explosive leaps forward. He made Joshua fight careful.

It wasn’t dramatic but it was effective and steady. Mature even.

People need to calm down a bit!

I can't find your scorecard post to quote, but anything other than an AJ UD is ridiculous, I would give Parker (in first watch live) 5 rounds at best, he got dominated by a jab (and poor referee) throughout this fight.

I'm still a little suprised that so many people picked Joshua to blow out Parker.

So, 5 at best you say? That's a 7-5 match, which is close. Therefore, "anything but a AJ UD" is not ridiculous. SD, MD, draw or close win for Parker is entirely plausible.

This fight definitely didn't install fear in Deontay.

Ignoring all my typos then, you don't really believe Parker won. You might believe he could have an argument for nicking 7 rounds at a push but you don't actually think Parker was the better man.

I'm also a little pissed off that Parker didn't go hard in the last rounds, i mean did his team really expect him to win by boxing on the backfoot?

He should've been there. IMO his presence and him calling out AJ would've secured that fight even if Whyte tried to hi-jack it. Would love to see AJ vs Wilder immediately next.

I honestly feel like he and his team put together and executed the most optimal game plan possible against Joshua, at this particular moment in time. It's just how it worked out...
